This amazing village-museum brings back to life the villages of the past by recreating the half-timbered houses and buildings of Nuisement, engulfed during the impoundment of Lac du Der. Indeed, when this lake was created, it was necessary to sacrifice Nuisement-aux-Bois, Chantecoq and Champaubert-aux-Bois. Only two buildings have been saved from the water, the Champaubert church which dominates the lake from its promontory and the half-timbered church of Nuisement, which has been dismantled and rebuilt in the heart of this museum-village, next to the Machelignots barn which recalls the trades of yesteryear, the mairie-école and the blacksmith's house where you will find a shop selling local products.

Located in the buildings of the former royal abbey of Saint-Remi, classified as a World Heritage Site in 1991 by UNESCO, this museum allows visitors to discover the history of the abbey but also the Gallo-Roman past of the city, its military history and the regional archaeology. Four sections take visitors through different rooms. In the refectories and the kitchen of the abbey, we discover Durocorturum, capital of the Roman imperial province of Belgium. On the second floor, Prehistory, Protohistory, Gallo-Roman craftsmanship and medieval collections from the Merovingian period to the 16th century are shown in seven rooms.

Visit.The collection unfolds chronologically from the Roman conquest to the 1870 war, with a particular interest in the military past of the Reims region, the scene of famous episodes such as the battle of Valmy or the battle of Reims on March 13, 1814, which was Napoleon I's last victory.

Among the 600 pieces presented, one will stop in particular on the admirably preserved collection of helmets and cuirasses going back to the time of Charles X. The Second Empire and the War of 1870 are also well represented by weapons, equipment and uniforms but also by a painting by Edouard Detaille. In this majestic architecture was kept the holy bulb which was used for the coronations of the kings of France.

The abbey is illustrated through the cloister, the old medieval parlor of the 13th century, the grand staircase (1700), the chapter house of the Middle Ages and three rooms devoted to the chronology of the site. In the refectory and kitchen of the abbey (17th century), one discovers the former capital of the Roman imperial province of Belgium, while the second floor houses a chronological tour retracing the past of the Rheims region from prehistoric times to the Merovingian era. On this same level are presented the collections linked to the history of the abbey, notably the Tapestry of the life of Saint Remi, made up of ten large tapestries dating from the Renaissance, as well as the impressive reconstruction of the façade of the 13th century Musicians' House, decorated with five statues of minstrels. During the wars of the Revolution and the Empire, the former abbey was transformed into a French military hospital before becoming a Russian hospital in 1814. The king's bodyguards were stationed there during the coronation of Charles X in 1825.

Holiday centre! Opened on September 13th, 2012, Espace Châlons Ville d'art et d'hisoire itself proposes, as the first step, to make you discover the city. A permanent exhibition is held here a stone's throw from the centre, on the second floor of the Maison du Patrimoine et de l'Architecture, using the most modern means to discover the history of Châlons until today. In the first area, visitors start the film by standing close to the screen: in ten minutes, they get a clear and general idean of the city's history... A geographical marker locates the elements that you choose on a map and allows you to draw your own itinerary. For children, a "material library" presents various building materials (chalk, cobwebs) and an interactive tablet offers games (puzzle, memory) around the elements of the heritage.

This museum is located in the old Vidamé de Châlons, a charming home with a portal of 1625. It is the residence of the Garinet that is reinstalled here, in the same way. In the last century, the widow of Jules Garinet bequeathed to the city the collections of art objects and curiosities of her husband and their furniture. We also admire numerous paintings from the 99 th century in the th century, as well as models of churches and cathedrals of France, works by Dr Mohen. No question of remaining safely! Behind Notre-Dame-en-Vaux, this museum brings together the remains of the medieval cloister built in 1170 by the canons of the college. The site was demolished in 1759 and 1766, leaving room for other constructions, which réutilisèrent stones carved into their foundations. In recent demolitions, fortuitous discoveries called for more systematic excavations. Thus, the cloister was partially returned to the surface and recollé. It was in 1978 that the museum was inaugurated. A reconstituted serving of tiers allows to admire the statues-columns and the quality of the sculptures. So we can imagine the splendour of this work of art. To visit it, no single ticket but a pass giving access to three museums.

Here, in Place des Buttes, Lucien and Huguette Cordier set out a collection of antique sewing machines. An exhibition that recounts the history of this tool, which will pass through time. More than two hundred models to discover from 1850 to 1980, of all brands. A surprising museum, which brings us back to memories and tells us about the history of the sewing machine and the housewife who used it.

It is in Joiselle, in a very old barn that you discover and admire this collection of ancient costumes and garments of all beauty. Thanks to this exhibition, we travel in time and in colours according to themes such as the history of silk. Here? it is Marie-Gabrielle Gérémia who gives you a guided tour and who tells you the magnificent masterpieces that she herself performs passionately.

It is in the attic of the town Hall of Orbais-the Abbey that you find this unusual museum that is the Yanni-False Museum. Here, between the beams are exposed to rather original objects. Collections of more authentic weather one than others, pottery of all motives and colours or even the appellants… Every year there is a different exhibition illustrating a theme. Interesting!
