OLYMPIA – BRUNO COQUATRIX

Well-known acoustics, red velvet curtains, a balcony with impeccable views of the scene, two thousand places… Olympia deserves its fame. His story is rather turbulent. There was on its site of the Russian mountains, and then a first Olympia from 1893 where all the stars of the caf period were passed: La Goulue, Frehel, Damia… The room is then converted into a cinema before becoming the Parisian music Hall temple in 1954 when the daring Bruno Coquatrix takes the lead. A legendary period begins with the performances of the young Gilbert Bécaud. All the French and foreign stars want to climb on the scene of this place that became mythical, especially after Edith Piaf touched thousands of spectators. The Beatles, Umm Kalsoum - for its only recital outside the Arab world - Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Louis Armstrong, the Rolling Stones… History fails to stop in the 1990 s when the owner, Société Générale, plans to demolish the block of buildings where Olympia is located. Classified in 1993, it is finally reconstituted 6 metres below its original location, while the facade is preserved. This curious operation took place in 1997, Bécaud was the first to sing in this new Olympia, a room that was bought by the multinational Vivendi Universal in 2001.

Red velvet, drapes, golden frames and old chandeliers: this place created at the bottom of a court in 1993 is decorated in a baroque way. It's mainly used for private events, but we regularly serve a rich auditorium of comics, including Wednesday evening for Les Oscars du Laughter. The following went: Jean-Luc Lemoine, Thierry Samitier, Fabrice Eboué, Willy… The famous singers are not the same: Werewolf or Natacha Saint-Pierre also foulé the planks of this place which made one (pre) name in the capital.

Listed as a historic monument, with its curious white facade featuring only a few windows, this is one of Paris's musical landmarks, in one of the capital's most vibrant districts. This Italian-style theater, with its 1,400 seats, parterre and balcony, is an eclectic stage for all kinds of artists. Lots of music, of course, but also shows. Note also that the Boule Noire, in the basement, also organizes concerts, albeit on a more intimate scale.

The Petit Casino opened its doors in 1969 in a former plumbing shop between Beaubourg and the Place des Vosges. We played the Obaldia, for example, and then fanciful such as Sylvie Joly, Douby, Pascal Legitimus or Paul Préboist made it a renowned address in the coffee-theater category. It is a unique and atypical place where each reservation is made by telephone, and where the welcome is made by Hélène. A beautiful evening of laughter in perspective!

It was the first flexible dining room of the capital, before Le Zénith and the POPB. Born in 1895, the Trianon-Concert is one of the first Parisian music halls. Destroyed alongside its neighbour Elysée Montmartre in 1900, it was rebuilt two years later and was successively named Trianon-Theatre, Theatre Victor Hugo and finally Trianon. It presented to the public as artists such as transformist Fregoli and the young Mistinguett. Transformed into a cinema in 1939, it returned to live performances in 1992. It was given a theater room, classical concerts, but it is its programming dominated by tracks - Bénabar, Jacques Higelin ... Carla Bruni - the only one on stage, and the musical comedy presented by Trianon is now renowned. In 2010, the room was completely restored in order to preserve the heritage. It is open to international artists and can receive up to 1500 people and 1080 people on seated configuration. In our opinion, the Trianon is one of the most beautiful establishments in the capital.

More than ten years after its opening, the challenge has largely been met. Indeed, the Centquatre brings together in a single, very large space, various sites of artistic creation and production open to all disciplines, and which offer various shows, screenings, readings, performances, exhibitions, workshops for young people or adults... What a lively place, on the very spot where the municipal undertaker's service - a building dating back to 1873 - was in operation until 1997. The Centquatre, or 104, which is a place of art, you have understood, is also a place of life. Restaurants, brasseries and shops are spread out in the immensity of the place.

The program is mainly comedy-oriented, but there are also some unique shows, such as the immersive one based on the work of Michel Polnareff.

LE ZÉNITH

Village halls and multipurpose halls

It is very difficult to find an artist of any renown that the curriculum would not indicate a passage through Le Zenith. Either in front of a festival, or at a festival, of a support party to this or that. The programming is mainly oriented towards all forms of popular music: songs, rock, reggae, rap… At each concert, large crowds pass through a lot of the park of La Villette to join this strange construction of a metal frame covered with a silver canvas. Inside, it can accommodate up to six thousand people. The room is adjustable. So you can find yourself in a more or less large area, with seating seats or promenoirs. One of the strengths of the Zenith is that visibility remains correct. There is never more than 50 metres between you and the scene.

Le Zenith is the first new equipment to have opened its doors in the park of La Villette. Inaugurated in 1984, it is the work of architects Philippe Chaix and Jean-Paul Morel. The first artist to have occurred there is Renaud. It was for the then Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, that he was created. For a good time, the capital needed a large space to be organized with great concerts for young people. There was another installation for electric and hairy music: Pantin Racecourse, a top where the best formations of the 1970 s, babas, hard and punk, from Gong to The Clash, passing through Trust. Barbara went on as well. But it eventually gives way to this Zenith, whose concept is now declining in sixteen major French cities.

At the mecca of French-songs created in 1947 by Jacques Canetti, great talent scout, Les Trois Baudets has seen young people such as Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Serge Gainsbourg, Juliette Greco, Mouloudji, Jacques Higelin as well as humourist like Raymond Devos go through its stage ... Nothing else! Replaced in 1967 by the Topless erotic cabaret, which became Erotika in 1978, it closed its doors in 1996. An association called Toto & Co then struggled so that the room can again open its doors. The City of Paris has embarked on the rehabilitation of the site; the architectural project was entrusted to the agency Anthony Béchu, the same which was responsible for the reconstruction of Olympia in 1997. Reopened in 2009, the room offers two hundred and fifty seats on two levels, a working space, a restaurant, a bar and a fireplace. To ensure a perfect soundproofing, the room is "locked" in a box set on stilts. As for the programming, it returns to the origins of the Trois Baudets. The song is featured with emerging talents of the French scene, those who are in the middle of ford, struggling between real careers.
