It was once… an industrialist who was passionate about the East and Asia. Emile Guimet - 1836-1918 - first presented his collections in his city, and then built a museum in Paris. Inaugurated in 1889, he specialized in the presentation of works of art from the Far East. Its-hundred-eighty-space auditorium offers music, dance, theatre, puppet, shadow theatre, film screenings, conferences and symposia in addition to temporary exhibitions, donations or acquisitions.
