THE HOUSES OF THE 17TH CENTURY
Read moreLanderneau has several beautiful houses, symbols of its rich past:
The Maison de la Duchesse Anne, place du Marché, is easy to find. After hosting the offices of the Tourist Office, she received a full renovation. It will offer a tea room on the ground floor, as well as a museum on the first floor (remaining floors remaining private). Dated in 1664, this beautiful residence has a series of glass windows that occupy a large part of the northern pignon. On the façade, a statue of the Risen Christ is inserted into a niche.
La Maison de Notre-Dame-de-Rumengol, at 3 St-Thomas Street, attracts a look. His name recalls the passage of pilgrims who went to Rumengol, a few kilometers away, and gathered in front of the statue of Notre Dame. This house has undergone few changes since its construction. The wedding of the pink stones of the Aber Ildut and the yellow stones of Logonna give it a unique aspect.

STIFF LIGHT
Read moreIt was in the 17th century that its construction was decided and built. It is therefore one of the oldest French lighthouses still in service. But it was no longer enough to mark the entrance to the English Channel: a semaphore is now watching, about 100 metres lower, accompanied by a more effective radar. You can climb the 104 steps of the Stiff lighthouse to enjoy a breathtaking view of the island! Like five other lighthouses in Finistère, it has been classified as a Historic Monument since 2010. Namely: Stiff Bay is the main place to live, after Lampaul. It lives at the rhythm of the arrivals of boats making the connections with the continent and of the few fishing and material transport boats.

THE PRESIDENT
Read moreBuilt in 1683 to replace the medieval halls, Presidial is one of the few judicial monuments in the region. At that time, the first floor was devoted to the court and the seat of the municipality while the ground floor was occupied by hawkers. The halls were destroyed in 1829 and the only surviving remnant of the original building is the magnificent staircase with converging stairs and baluster ramps. Today, Presidial with a reduced surface annually hosts contemporary art exhibitions of various artistic practices (painting, sculpture, photos ...)

MORLAIX THEATRE

Built in 1886 with a leg of the Earl Paul Ange de Guernisac, it displays a sober façade contrasting with its beautiful interior. FOUNTAIN HOUSE
Read moreSpared by the Allies's bombings in 1944, Maison de la Fontaine is one of the oldest buildings in the Ponant city. Located in the heart of Recouvrance, it overlooks Penfeld beside the garden of the Explorateurs, facing the Brest castle. Bought by the municipality in 1980, it now offers numerous activities and free exhibitions, organised by the cultural service of the city, or the association des Amis de Recouvrance, initiator of its renovation in 1992. As for its name, it has nothing to do with a certain 17th century's poets. The house has its name from the fountain constructed next to it in 1760. It later became the residence of the most prestigious sculptor (Yves Collet) that this group has ever known: A permanent exhibition is devoted to him in the basement, between the walls of the original fountain. Note that the cross on the gable comes from the Noyés graveyard, which was in this same place until the seventeenth century.
TREZIEN LIGHTHOUSE

At 500 m from the shore, it is aligned with that of Kermorvan, located at the entrance to the Conquet. If reaching the lighthouse of the lighthouse involves climbing 182 steps, you will not regret the effort: you will then be 37.20 m from the ground, 86.20 m above sea level, and enjoy a splendid panorama! A magnificent view of the Iroise Sea, the islands of the Molène archipelago (the main ones are Balanec, Bannec, Béniguet, Litry, Trielen and Queménes) as well as the island of Ouessant and even the island of Sein, in a clear time. At the foot of the lighthouse, the warden's house has been developed and presents a permanent exhibition, Marking in the Four Channel Channel: Explanatory panels, objects and models explain the operation of lighthouses and lenses of Fresnel. A temporary exhibition is now complete.
