STIFF LIGHT
Read moreIt was in the 17th century that its construction was decided and built. It is therefore one of the oldest French lighthouses still in service. But it was no longer enough to mark the entrance to the English Channel: a semaphore is now watching, about 100 metres lower, accompanied by a more effective radar. You can climb the 104 steps of the Stiff lighthouse to enjoy a breathtaking view of the island! Like five other lighthouses in Finistère, it has been classified as a Historic Monument since 2010. Namely: Stiff Bay is the main place to live, after Lampaul. It lives at the rhythm of the arrivals of boats making the connections with the continent and of the few fishing and material transport boats.

USHERING ECOMUSEUM
Read moreIt was here that the first ecomuseum of France was created in 1968. As you enter the permises, you get the impression that time has stopped. But of the two houses characteristic of traditional housing architecture in Ouessant, only one remains, the second having been destroyed by arson (which affected several sites on the island), in July 2017. If the ground floor and the attic were designed in a very functional way, the interior distribution appeals to the visitor: a partitioning system frees up two rooms of similar dimensions at both ends of the house. One of them, equipped with tables, benches-chests, enclosed beds and a fireplace, is the living room. The room at the other end has the same configuration but its decoration is neat and the woods are worked. It is the ceremonial room of the house, which is only used for entertaining on special occasions. Furniture, objects, engravings, photos and costumes are all testimonies to the rich hours of the island in the last century.

RUE ANATOLE FRANCE
Read moreBrest has a constantly changing urban fabric. The artists appropriate the walls and underline the history of the city of Le Ponant through gigantic paintings. Rue Anatole France is an example of this desire to promote art and revitalize the city's right bank. In this long street, you can admire about ten frescoes, designed and created by the Lyon muralist painters of CitéCréation, who worked in collaboration with illustrators, comic book authors and renowned architects such as Pierre-Henri Argouarch, Liliwen, Benjamin Flao, Patrice Pellerin, etc. If we can deplore the lack of commented visit of this street of Brest, we can get the paper guide " Les murs ont la parole " available at the tourist office.
Other murals are scattered all over Brest. The site www.streetart-brest.fr lists nearly 650 of them. It's up to you to lose yourself in the city with these artistic and urban winks...

NOTRE-DAME-DE-RUMENGOL-AN-TEST
Read moreNavigating the Notre-Dame-de-Rumengol, it's a little dive in the history of commercial navigation to sail. Indeed, this mythical sailboat for the Bretons was restored to the Maritime Holidays of Brest in 1996. It was during these holidays that he was handed over to the water in Brest harbour, in front of an impressive crowd. The culmination of a long renovation site, and a new life for this sailboat to the rich past. Classified as a historic monument, this gabare was established in 1945 at Keraudren town Hall. First used for the transport of wine, Notre-Dame-de-Rumengol subsequently liaises between Brittany and England for the carriage of sand. His career ended in 1980, for a while. It was thanks to the passion and motivation of the An Test association that the sailboat was able to resume the sea, and can still make the Brest Harbour, Alder and Islands of the Mer d'Iroise discover. The association also offers an introduction to astronomical navigation for those who doubt the reliability of their GPS.

BREST DOORS
Read moreLarge, colourful, and always busy even under the dark clouds, the commercial port is the epicentre of Brest life. Whether you descend on foot from Cours Dajot by taking the huge stairs or take a ride in the car driving along the castle, the landscape is unique. Meeting points, the Irish pubs that are located at the entrance to the port have their rooms always full day and night. When it comes to the many restaurants which have been implanted there for a long time, their tables are constantly occupied at lunchtime. But the port is also a place of Sunday walk that is even busier since the inauguration of Marina du Château! As you walk around on the "port de co", you can enjoy some old riggings on stopover, such as the Recouvrance or the Abeille Bourbon, the impressive tugboat that is always ready to go and help ships in distress. Note: it's on its quays that, every summer, Thursday evenings are animated by the sound of "Jeudis du port", which is a free artistic event, open to all and extremely popular, in the heart of which street arts and varied concerts mix.
