CHEZ SOLANGE ET ROBERT

Indian Ocean and Pacific cuisine restaurant
3.2/5
5 reviews

Opposite the beach at Saint-François, look out for a pretty hut with a terrace covered in latanier leaves, where, go figure, you'll immediately want to sit down. Don't let this impulse stop you, because there, under the straw hut, in a simple setting and friendly atmosphere, you can enjoy delicious grilled fish fresh out of the lagoon, shrimps, medium-rare grilled free-range chicken thighs, good Rodriguan sausages and much more. For dessert, succumb to the simple pleasure of a flambéed banana or a scoop of coconut ice cream.

LE MARLIN BLEU

Indian Ocean and Pacific cuisine restaurant €€

This restaurant, once considered the best in Anse-aux-Anglais, has changed owners, and since then it's been a yo-yo in the kitchen and service. The place remains friendly, with a room dominated by wood and wicker and a terrace right on the coastal road, a little busy at certain times of day. Nevertheless, the place is often full and quite lively at weekends, and you can enjoy a good cocktail before sampling the ourites and other local dishes based on fresh (and sometimes spicy) produce. There's also a choice of pizzas.

LE PECHEUR DU NORD

Mauritian restaurant

Recently opened, this new restaurant is located at the northern entrance of Port Mathurin, a bit removed from the bustle of François Leguat street. Refreshed by a small breath of air, it consists of a large shaded terrace on stilts overlooking the river where the very first inhabitants settled. On the slate, the dishes of the day are chosen according to the fishing and the arrival of the producers. Fish, seafood, chicken and duck are cooked in the Rodrigues style, according to traditional recipes. A winning equation: the restaurant is always full!

TONIO

Mauritian restaurant

Unique in Rodrigues, this is the only beach "resto" truly ON the beach, run with heart and soul by Tonio's daughter. The concept: 4 wooden poles and a raven roof for shade, a barbecue for grilling fish and lobster, a few tables and chairs brought in from Tonio's late house at the back... sand under your toes and the lagoon right in front. The experience: take a dip in the sea, chat, taste the day's special dishes, let time fly, sip a little rum to celebrate the magic of the moment.

TABLE D'HÔTE DE LA BELLE RODRIGUAISE

Mauritian restaurant €€

In the kitchen, Françoise Baptiste, disciple of Auguste Escoffier and author of a recipe book, Les Délices de Rodrigues, prepares typical dishes with local products: fish and shellfish from the lagoon, organic vegetables from the garden, poultry from the farmyard... a delight! She also prepares, on request, classics of the local gastronomy and lobster from the fishing grounds. Takeaway menu for hikers and dinner with guests under the veranda.

KFE LA PLAZ

Mauritian restaurant

In the garden of Gravier Beach House, at the edge of the coastal road and the beach, a pretty creole hut in sunny yellow stands out against the green of the lawn. It welcomes the residents of the house and the hikers passing by with a local beer, a juice, a coffee or delicious small dishes of the Rodriguan cuisine prepared with great care - grilled fish, ourite, chicken in sauce, Creole desserts, etc. You can sit directly in the shade of a parasol, facing the sea, or under the bright varangue of the hut. Friendly service.
