The local Craignure smells good tradition with its large stone walls and woodwork. The food is classic of the country and you can often find magpies, steaks, mussels, lamb and pork on the menu which changes regularly. There are a few good beers and a pleasant terrace on sunny days. The establishment also offers B&B accommodation in three rooms with en-suite bathrooms, pleasant and good value for money. Home of the Cuillin Brewery micro-brewery, located in a beautifully secluded setting at the entrance to the Glen Sligachan and some of the most beautiful mountains in the country, the Seumas' Bar at the Sligachan Hotel is unquestionably one of the best pubs on the island. It has a good selection of mainly local real ales and over 300 single malts in stock. There is no shortage of space but the address is extremely popular and fills up quickly.

This is probably the best restaurant on the island, specializing in fish and seafood. It was even voted "UK Fish Restaurant of the Year" in 2012 and since then the quality hasn't gone down. The menu is superb and tasty, with halibut, sole, hake, lobster, salmon, haddock, scallops and much more. There are also some meats and a vegetarian dish. The prices are correct, with know-how and freshness always at the rendez-vous. It's often taken by storm, so remember to make a reservation.

It's probably the best restaurant on the island with the Café Fish in Tobermory. Located in a wooden building, spacious and contemporary, the cuisine is excellent and combines quality ingredients with talent. The produce is as local as possible, thanks to the island's rich local produce and fishing. The inspirations are Scottish, and here and there they are found in other European culinary traditions. Whether you choose a meat, fish or vegetarian dish, the presentation is well thought out and the content does not disappoint.

It is one of the best restaurants on the island, housed in an old schoolhouse built in 1876. The menus are creative, and feature both meat and fish, with the permanent presence of a vegetarian dish. The whole is cooked with great care, for studied flavours that hit the spot. The presentation is distinguished and the room takes on a certain elegance, thanks to its red colours and wooden materials. Please remember to book in season, as places are limited and the restaurant is in great demand.

CHARGRILL - MARMALADE HOTEL

British restaurant €€

Young atmosphere, rather chic and trendy, but very relaxed in this big Victorian house. We come here to have a good time. At noon, a simple menu with salads, hamburgers, fish & chips and pasta dishes. In the evening, the menu changes and offers more elaborate dishes. The establishment is also a hotel: it reopened in 2020 after expansion work and offers elegant, modern and very comfortable rooms.

The decoration is of a circumstance, with objects related to navigation, boat paintings and nautical charts. Book in summer.

It's a pleasure to go back to school at this address in Dunvegan. The plates are carefully laid out and their contents rarely fail to delight visitors, as do the regulars. The setting is rather classy and sober, with parquet flooring, stone walls and panelled ceiling. Children are particularly welcome with a menu dedicated to them, at very reasonable prices. It is best to book in advance as this is a popular address.
