It is one of the biggest clubs in Aquitaine, with a fine record of tournament victories, a number of players qualified for the French Championships and even a young 2022 world champion in the under-8 age group! The club has over 200 members and is committed to a policy of training and initiation with the "classes en ligne" project, which enables all the pupils of the agglomeration community, i.e. over 1,500 youngsters, to be educated during school hours. The program includes internal and external tournaments, quick games, giant chessboard games and competitions.

It has two observatories near Pau, in Saint-Castin (equipped with a 300 mm telescope), and Idron (equipped with an instrument dedicated to observing the Sun). Throughout the year, SAPO organizes conferences, free public observation evenings at the Saint-Castin site, and daytime solar observations and workshops at Idron. The schedule of these events is periodically updated on the association's website.

Nicolas, the renowned craftsman and musician, trains people in this ancestral printing method, enabling them to create their own designs on T-shirts, bags, posters, cushions and lamps in limited quantities.
