Stroll at your own pace along this hour-long trail between the town hall and the church, lined with twelve desks recounting not only the town's landmarks, but also the major events that have shaped its history. A second itinerary, starting in the Barlanès district, 7 kilometers from the town center, goes by the evocative name of "Sentier de découverte de la vallée de Barlanès" (Barlanès Valley Discovery Trail). This route highlights preserved natural areas, such as the Arguibelle cliff, the Issarbe peat bogs and tree species.

A visit to the Plateau de la Gentiane is a must. With its atypical profile, a pleasant route with no major difficulties, a belvedere offering a remarkable view of the Aspe valley, and finally, its access path from Peyrenère, this place offers an unforgettable experience. Covering a distance of over 7 km, you can enjoy a pleasant walk while soaking up the exceptional setting, revealing the remarkable natural wealth of the region. Over the course of more than 2 hours, you'll come across other visitors and make some memorable encounters!

As an exceptional karst site, renowned for its caving, Arette la Pierre-Saint-Martin also stands out for its remarkable scenery on various walks and hikes. Whether mountain biking through the forest, conquering the peaks of Anie and Arlas on foot, or hiking the Lapiaz, visitors can explore this natural region from the resort. Options include the famous GR10, which can be hiked in its entirety or in sections, the Pyrenean Haute Randonnée trail, or one of the many local circuits.

There is a wide range of possibilities for walks around Eaux-Bonnes and Gourette. Marked itineraries are available, graded according to level of difficulty and length of journey: whether around the Bouy plateau, with its climb through the forest, the Lac d'Anglas walk on the GR 10, the hike to the Pic de Ger via the Col d'Amoulat, or circuits such as the Horizontale, the Trois Villages, the Quatre Lacs walk. Between the sky, the mountains and the sea, everything here invites you to take a stroll along the paths laid out for this purpose, such as the El Cano fishermen's path, also close to the shore, where you can cycle or walk. If you're a jogger, don't hesitate to take this path... There are two ways to explore the village on foot. You'll find explanatory signs on some of the paths. These walks take less than two hours to complete, and allow you to discover part of the Basque heritage and the village of Guéthary.

A great idea for a family outing. By a towpath transformed into a track, it is possible to reach Bayonne. A pleasant walk reserved for pedestrians, cyclists, rollerbladers and horse riders. The preservation of the banks of the Nive and its development belong to the mixed syndicate of the Nive maritime made up of the towns of Bayonne, Bassussary, Villefranque and Ustaritz. A preserved site, a space of peace, of nature and one sometimes crosses pilgrims coming from the four corners of the world.

Take a walk with Patxi and join him for a sunset in the heart of the Basque mountains. On this hike, you'll meet the inhabitants of our countryside, such as sheep, pottoks and maybe even griffon vultures. Enjoy a convivial gourmet break with a peasant snack, and when night falls, light your way with a headlamp. The distance is 6 km, with an ascent of +200 m, for a total duration of 4 hours.

Looking for a day full of discovery and excitement? Take off on an adventure, accompanied by a guide specialized in flora and fauna, with a special focus on the emblematic bird of the Basque mountains: the griffon vulture. This experience is open to all, and will allow you to delve into the history of the smugglers and the legends of the Laminak, while being close to the vultures' nests, which you can observe through binoculars.

You can buy a topo-guide listing about thirty marked itineraries in the Saint-Palais area and hiking sheets for the whole of the Basque Country at the Tourist Information Office. In July and August, ask for the summer guide which proposes hikes with mountain guides, locals who tell you about their country. Without taking the car, you can go on foot on the Saint-Sauveur hill on the Xibaltare path (2 hours round trip): a very beautiful panorama on the Basque and Bearn Pyrenees awaits you there.

The mount Ursuya dominates all the Country of Hasparren; we see it above the 10 villages lying at its feet. Any walker can reach it (678 m). Start from the fronton of the Celhay and Urcuray district and ask for information because the two proposed hikes are of different difficulty and duration. Along the way, there are explanatory stones and information on the richness of the Ursuya and the pastoral activity of these places. You will know everything about the protohistoric remains, ancient paths, pottoks, shepherds. Up there, an exceptional panorama.

The Pic d'Orhy dominates the village of Larrau and is the highest peak (2,017 m) in the Basque Country, west of the Pyrenees, on the Franco-Spanish border. Like many other peaks, it lives on in the legends told by the Souletin, Oyenhart, in the days when birds... spoke. A high-mountain territory to be explored only in fine weather, to take full advantage of the panoramic views from the summit. Hikes for young and old, with no great difficulty apart from a small rocky bar to cross. A must during your stay in Soule.

The reconstructed Piémont Pyrénéen route (GR-78) started from Carcassonne and reached Lourdes, St-Jean-Pied-de-Port (last stop before the border) before crossing the mountains to arrive at Roncesvalles. It links the Mediterranean with the Atlantic, and offers a rich heritage. This hike, often on hilltops, offers splendid panoramic views of the Pyrenees chain as it crosses the département. With a total distance of 594 km, the maximum altitude is 1,179 m, with a cumulative difference in altitude of 13,717 m.
