This language school stands out above all for its very active social support department. Recognized by the Guatemalan government as an autonomous non-profit organization, it puts the profits from its Spanish classes back into its aid program. One of the goals of this program is to support the surrounding rural Mayan communities in improving the conditions of their schools, through the purchase of computers and the installation of nurseries, among other things. This work earned INEPAS recognition from UNESCO in 1998.

The Hispanomaya School teaches both languages. Students can also perform voluntary work. Part of the profits are returned to local development projects.

Film and TV screenings, wine tastings, "café poème"... In addition to language classes and level certifications, the promotion of French culture at the Alliance involves the organization of events throughout the year, whose agenda can be found on the organization's Instagram and Facebook pages. If you have books or magazines in French that you would like to get rid of, you can donate them to the library.

It is one of the most renowned language schools in Xela. In addition to the classic sessions, there are specialized courses: Spanish for teenagers, applied to the medical field or the business world. It is also possible to combine lessons with guitar or salsa lessons. Another special feature of Celas Maya is the teaching of K'iche'. The school also offers accommodation options and volunteer programs.

An extended stay in the village is an opportunity to take a Spanish course. We recommend this excellent school, which also has branches in San Juan La Laguna and San Pedro. Several packages are available, the most popular of which is a one- to two-week retreat that includes language lessons with a private teacher as well as two-hour yoga and meditation sessions each morning.
