The city's oldest covered market hall has been open since 1889. Attractive wooden stalls, cafés and restaurants, including the famous Story, where you can sample Finnish specialties and exquisite burgers. A bit of a tourist market, it's not really the place to go for family shopping, but you can find local artisanal specialties to bring back from your trip, such as moose pâté or cranberry jam.

Located in a working neighborhood, this covered market, built in 1914, is much more authentic than the market of Kauppatori and lives all the year. One finds there shovel-mixes with the flowers, of the meats of dash, reindeer and wide varieties of fresh fish or pastries. On the first floor, stands of craftsmen offering a wide choice of accessories, clothing, soaps and other souvenirs Finnish, without forgetting a small café to rest right in the middle of all this extremely friendly agitation. Approximately 1 km west of the Kauppatori, on the west bank of the Helsinki peninsula, near the large port port where many cruise ships were built, including the «Loveboats» of the American television Series. It's good to admire the rolls from this bakery that has been present in the city since 1914, where prices are still reasonable for a gourmet getaway that doesn't disappoint. The staff will advise you if you hesitate and patiently explain the different specialities.

After having been a famous bakery in Porvoo since 1871, this family business started in 1928 with what would make it famous throughout the country: the production of chocolate and other sweets, including national liquorice. Today, the shop in the historic centre of Porvoo offers a whole host of treats and for sure, you won't leave empty-handed! On site, you can taste some of their specialities, chocolate truffles and "Kiss". You can even visit the small factory in Teollisuustie.

Helsingin Jäätelotehdas is a little bit of the delicacies of Italian gastronomy and know-how in the heart of the Finnish capital. The best ice cream in Helsinki is undoubtedly to be found here, from the Helsinki Ice Cream Factory founded in 1922. A creamy ball is more than enough to satisfy both small and large appetites. Among our favorites? Blueberries, chocolate-hazelnut or kermatoffee (succulent caramel!) Good news, there are four summer kiosks scattered along the seaside, do not hesitate to look at the addresses on their site.

A coffee and pastry shop famous for having the best korvapuusti in town (Finnish cinnamon buns). And if you need a second reason to come and taste them, know that here they are twice as consistent as elsewhere! An ideal address for breakfast, provided you arrive early, as the room is not very big and there are many gourmet guests. At noon, we are tempted by the lounas, who is said to offer one of the best salmon soups in the capital! Good value for money.

This 2018 boutique is home to one of Helsinki's only artisan chocolate makers, who adds a Finnish touch to this confectioner's tradition, including the addition of local berries to the cocoa paste. It's beautiful and good, and among the choice on offer, one can easily be tempted to bring back a lot. The shop has a small café where you can enjoy a hot chocolate. There is another shop of this chocolate maker much more in the north-east of the city and a little off-centre on Hermannin rantatie 5.

Just above Kallio's magnificent library, a tiny café-bakery-wine bar-restaurant adored by the locals! Here, you can eat well and locally. The menu changes every week, respecting the rhythm of the seasons and Finnish produce. In addition to the culinary side of things, Way (and his smiling team) also offers some very good pastries (including cookies to die for), to be enjoyed with a coffee or, why not, a glass of fine wine? Among many other marvels, you'll find breads in the shape of animals (cats and rabbits, as a family) as well as possu, delicious little apple-filled pastries. Sandwiches can be bought and enjoyed on the outdoor terrace. In short, the ideal address for a quick lunch in the heart of Helsinki!

Teemu and Markus, two chefs who also work at the renowned Demo and Grotesk restaurants, have decided to make their childhood dreams come true by opening their own patisserie. A small French-style patisserie-tea room, with minimalist and sublime cakes as beautiful as they are delicious. A special mention for the white chocolate-passion-fruit mousse-cake, a real feat of flavor balance for an assured explosion in the mouth.

Simply magical! Porvoo is an ideal city for Christmas shopping. The old town then abounds with shops offering handicrafts, art, paintings, chocolate, mustard, Christmas fish. We warm up with mulled wine and gingerbread cookies, listening to street musicians. There is really a special atmosphere here, especially in the old town - something of a small village of yesteryear! And the advantage over Helsinki is also its attendance. There are far fewer people here!
