In winter, the site takes on a fairy-tale air when the river freezes over and the snow covers the roofs. Only a few minutes away from the city centre, it is the ideal place for those who wish to stay in peace and quiet while remaining close to a dynamic city and an environment that offers a large number of activities of all kinds. Outside the city. About 100 tent sites and nearly 200 caravan sites. On the spot, a grocery store and a café. It is rather spartan but there is nevertheless all the necessary comfort to stay a few nights or a week. And anyway, you don't go there to stay inside. Since 1989, Magnus Halonen has been running this small campsite surrounded by nature in the middle of Saami country. Located near the village and close to the river, it is the ideal place to recharge your batteries: calm and serenity are always present. The campsite offers many outdoor activities, summer and winter, from snow scooters to bike rides, hiking, sauna and spa... to make the most of the surroundings! Tent, camper, room or chalet, dormitory: the campsite offers several types of accommodation to satisfy everyone!

A symbol of the development of independent travelers in these extreme lands, there is an excellent campground in Longyearbyen to spend an unforgettable vacation without spending too much money. The services offered are impeccable: sanitary facilities, communal kitchen, etc. Tents, sleeping bags and mattresses or comfort mattresses can be rented. Bicycle rental. Since 2021, an electric fence and 2 dogs protect the campsite from potentially dangerous visitors. Possibility of obtaining a certificate for nude bathing, we can't stop progress!

The campsite is located near the sea where you can easily dive, kayak or go on a sea safari. This is where the strongest tidal current in the world is found! This is due to the fact that on one side is the sea, on the other the fjord, and the variation of the sea level is about 2 meters per day! The pressure is therefore incredible and creates whirlpools that move constantly. In short, to come back to the campsite... it is at the top level of installations and especially ideally located to admire this unique phenomenon in the world!

A fjord-side campsite, or rather a timeless place where doing nothing but enjoying nature around you becomes everyday life. A few simple cabins, equipped with the essentials (with or without bathroom/toilet/kitchen and even fridge) make the ideal pied-à-terre. In summer, hiking and kayaking are just a few steps away. In winter, you can borrow snowshoes. It's possible to see the aurora dance without even going far! Grocery store and ferry terminal (Olderdalen/Lyngseidet) nearby.
