Take the opportunity to go to the island. There, count at least one hour to visit the place, but you can also spend the day there. Indeed, it is one of the loch's largest (52 hectares) and highest islands. Very quickly, you will have the impression to have approached another world, far from everything. There are several trails, for walks of 30 to 45 minutes.

The Go Ape Adventure Centre in Aberfoyle offers a range of activities suitable for both children and adults. Several courses in the trees are set up, to adapt to the level of children (or great beginners) as well as sportsmen and daredevils. The centre also has Segways and electric scooters for outings in the forest, "adventure trekking" sessions with zip lines and axe throwing. Fancy an extra dose of adrenaline? This centre offers many outdoor activities, on the loch or in the forest. Experienced kayakers can rent single or tandem sea kayaks (including paddles) and venture out to conquer the islands or the famous Lora Falls. Sea Kayak Oban offers day trips (from £105/adult) or half day trips (from £65/adult) to see the full splendor of the bay from the water. You can spend half a day or a day at sea, with a guide, admiring the landscape and observing its rich wildlife: seals, otters, birds of prey? You can also rent by the hour canoe (one or three places) or paddle.

This well-established and recognized tourist and leisure complex organizes sports and themed outings to appreciate Arran in all its splendor. To explore the island a little differently, this riding school schedules one or two-hour horseback rides in the Glen Sannox valley and on the beach. The itinerary does not follow any road. Beginners are welcome, as are experienced riders: the rides are adapted to each person's level. Advance booking is required. Children under the age of 5 are not allowed on the rides, but pony rides are possible in the paddock for 3-5 year olds.

Rothesay Golf Course is one of three on the island of Bute, along with Bute Golf Course and Port Bannatyne Golf Club. All of them offer magnificent views and their own unique playing characteristics. Rothesay has a reputation as one of the most picturesque in the country. It offers panoramic and breathtaking views over the 7 surrounding counties. With a length of 5,419m, this 18-hole is also known for its difficulty, and its ^4th hole was designated by champion Eric Brown as one of the most difficult in Europe. The course also offers the advantage of a very reasonable price.

This golf course takes shape in a spectacular setting, at the mercy of the sea winds and in a nature that is not there to make your task easier, but on the contrary, to push you to surpass yourself. Its 18-hole course is laid out with respect for the curves of the terrain, but also for the rare flora that grows there. This is what its architect, David McLay Kidd, says: "We followed the terrain and unlike most courses in the world, we didn't design the course and make the terrain evolve with it, we designed each hole around the natural terrain."

Carradale and its surroundings have beautiful hiking trails to be explored on foot and by mountain bike. They are for rent, with all the necessary safety and practical equipment. Specific buggies are also available to suit people with reduced mobility and to allow them to enjoy the scenery as well. You can also practice geocaching and explore the surrounding nature in "treasure hunt" mode: perfect for walking without realizing it!

Founded in 1906, this golf club is very appreciated by connoisseurs, but still remains confidential. We won't complain: less frequented, it is all the more accessible with very reasonable rates. This 9-hole course, described as the sportiest in Scotland, gives everyone a chance, but even the experienced golfer can find himself in difficulty. Dotted with rocky outcroppings, it can be challenging and tricky. A family golf course, it also welcomes children and is popular with families in the summer.
