EE-USK

Ee-usk has its feet in the water and serves some of the best fish in the region. The dishes are sourced locally, prepared and cooked with talent on the spot, to the delight of gourmets who come here as much for the pleasures of the mouth as for the setting facing the sea: views of Kerrera, Lismore, Mull and Morven, the ferries and fishing boats criss-crossing the bay ... Held by the same family for over 25 years, this restaurant is a true institution, recognized worldwide. Fans of the genre won't regret it.

A contemporary Italian-inspired restaurant, Cucina has become one of the leading restaurants on the local culinary scene thanks to its appetizing and varied menu. There are of course pizzas, but also pasta, salads, some meat and fish. Lovers of Italian wines, you will find here some proposals that should please you! The price-quality ratio is quite interesting, especially for lunch and early evening menus. The decoration is sober and modern. The place is very popular with locals and visitors alike.

THE FORTH INN

British restaurant €€
5/5
1 review

This is the heart of the small village of Aberfoyle. Both pub and restaurant, it is very popular with locals on its large terrace and many real Scottish ales, especially from the islands. Amateurs will enjoy ordering three 1/3 a pint to vary the pleasures. On the ground, carpet with tartan motifs and large stone slabs respond to the time photos and underneath glasses adorning the walls to create an entirely traditional atmosphere. The food pub is excellent and you can only recommend the rich fish & chips, which is perfectly cooked.

SKIPNESS SEAFOOD CABIN

Seafood Restaurant €€

1 review

This restaurant is to be discovered, as much for the dishes as for the location. Its history began in 1988, in the form of a caravan near the Château de Tarbert. In 1990, it found its current location and word of mouth spread. The restaurant made a good reputation and grew. It offers fresh seafood, snacks and salads in an environment that forces you to go off the beaten track. Everything on the menu is sourced from local producers in an effort to support sustainable fishing.

LOCHRANZA HOTEL COUNTRY INN

World cuisine restaurant €€

This large white house overlooking the bay is the only one in the village to serve meals in the evening. The steakpie is delicious... The bar is especially famous on the island for its excellent selection of whisky, including the one from the village distillery. A guitar is fixed to the wall, on which people passing by often play between drinks. The atmosphere here is really warm and you can enjoy the terrace overlooking the garden on sunny days.

THE BLACK SHEEP PUB

British restaurant €€
5/5
1 review

Located within the Royal Hotel, this central pub has a traditional setting with a fireplace, benches and a nice bar, where a few beers are served. The menu is simple but effective, thanks to its pizzas, burgers and fish & chips. You can enjoy the view of the seafront, the friendly atmosphere and the simplicity of the place, which lends itself perfectly to an outing with friends, after a day of excursions. For something a little classier, but also more expensive, the neighbouring Harbour View Grille is run by the same team.

Légèrement Inn is located at the western exit of Callander, in the place Kilmahog. There are some other good addresses in the centre, but it also has the advantage of being a renowned pub serving its own beers. The menu is in the image of the atmosphere: genuine and Scottish. Music groups occur most on Saturdays, as well as Fridays in season.

This is one of the most romantic places you can find to revel in the surroundings of Loch Lomond. The restaurant area has been named Colquhoun's restaurant and offers, in a large room overlooking the loch, a typical menu of British gastronomy. You can have lunch there or just have a drink by the fire on comfortable sofas while contemplating its shores. The establishment is also a hotel ****: the 48 luxurious rooms are an ode to relaxation. CUAN MOR

British restaurant €€
4/5
1 review

Relax and trendy, the Cuan Mor is built on a creative decoration combining old stones, parquet floors and panelling, as well as old iron rebar. The strength of this pub is its micro-brewery: Oban Bay Brewery. Its beers are simply excellent and they are tasted with sandwiches, wraps, salads, seafood and other dishes at midday. In the evening, only the main card is available, with burgers, meat, fish or vegetarian options. A good playlist accompanies the experience.

OBAN FISH & CHIP TAKEAWAY/RESTAURANT

Seafood Restaurant
4/5
1 review

It is one of the most famous and adored fish & chips in the city. On the spot or to take away, you can choose between the unavoidable cod and eaglefins, but also rarer fish such as sole, hake or halibut. Burgers, pizzas, some traditional (haggis, black pudding, steak pie...) and vegetarian dishes are also available. The restaurant's menu is a little more sophisticated and can be enjoyed in a rather sober room.

This comfortable cottage, near the old Kilberry Castle, welcomes you in an authentic and warm atmosphere. A la carte, local products are in the spotlight, including fresh fish from local fishing. On the meat side, there is room for Scottish breeds and local breeders. The dishes are garnished with herbs from the garden and vegetables from the vegetable garden. They are accompanied by a fine selection of wines. The room being small, it is better to make a reservation. The establishment also makes B&B with 5 rooms.

KILDONAN HOTEL

1 review

The geographical location of the restaurant at the very tip of the island makes it an exceptional place. A restaurant with a refined atmosphere has been set up in the large bay window, tastefully built as an extension of the old building. We can have lunch there, snacks and sandwiches. In the evening, we dine there in front of a huge sea, with the lighthouse of the small island of Plada as a horizon. Ideal for a romantic dinner... The bar also has a superb view, to be admired while tasting a whisky or a real ale brewed in Arran.

BRODICK BAR & BRASSERIE

British restaurant €€

1 review

Renowned as one of the best restaurants on the island, the food is tasty and carefully presented. On the programme of festivities: fish, with the traditional fish & chips, but also sole, halibut and scallops. There are also some meats, a vegetarian dish and homemade pizzas. For lunch or early evening, prices are smaller with lunch and Early Bird formulas. As for the atmosphere, the decoration is simple, but the bistro setting provides the atmosphere and the service is friendly.

STAG'S PAVILION

The Stag's Pavilion is located in a long hall facing the golf course and the campsite. Valérie Anne, Scottish, and Rino Pisano, Italian chef, are at the helm of this acclaimed establishment. They fell in love with Arran in 2011, and the crush gave birth to a great adventure. The excellent cuisine features leek and cheese pies, mushroom risottos, salmon with parmesan cheese or sheep shoulders with honey and wine. The success is unequivocal and it is better to book in the evenings in season.

HARRY HAW'S

This charming little establishment with its attentive service has no other neighbour than Rothesay Castle as its neighbour. It has established itself as a must for locals for a quick lunch or a long family dinner. The food is both hearty and tasty, with a more sophisticated menu in the evening. Don't hesitate to drop in at lunchtime for gourmet plates at low prices: jacket potatoes, baguettes, pasta, pizzas and more. You can also pick up take-out. You can't go wrong!
