Located on the roadside, towards Arona, this beautiful villa is the most edifying example of 19th century Italian architecture in this region, appreciated by wealthy Milanese people over the weekend since that time. It was Senator Raffaello Faraggiana, who lived there, who gave it his name. Its large yellow and white neoclassical façade with its sculpted tympanum, its colonnades and its huge 25,000 ^m2 park are splendid. The interior is equally impressive, with gilding, frescoes on the ceilings and sculptures everywhere.

These hills stretch north from the town of Novara (hence their name) and south from Lakes Orta and Maggiore, about a fifteen-minute drive from Gozzano. More a rural area to explore than a tourist attraction in itself, you'll be amazed by the beauty of the villages that dot the area, including Romagnano Sesia, Ghemme, Cavallirio and Borgomanero. This splendid sanctuary is just an hour's drive southwest of Lake Orta, in the village of Oropa (not far from Biella). Set in the heart of a natural mountain amphitheatre, this complex of 19 chapels is one of nine Sacri Monti in Piedmont and Lombardy to have been inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 2003. These sacred buildings feature frescoes and sculptures telling the story of the Virgin Mary, as well as a number of biblical episodes. A visit well worth the detour.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna della Corona is a picturesque, historic church located on a mountainside in the town of Spiazzi. Built around 1625, this sanctuary offers a calm and peaceful atmosphere, ideal for prayer and meditation. Perched at an altitude of 774 metres, it offers a breathtaking view of the Adige valley. The site also houses the Stella Alpina Pilgrim's House, a café and offers regular religious celebrations. Sculptures by Ugo Zannoni and bronze fusions by Raffaele Bonente are outstanding artistic features to be discovered. The sanctuary is a place of contemplation and natural beauty, offering visitors the chance to relax and enjoy the silence of the surrounding nature.

In the vicinity of Lugano, 5 km to the north-east, on the Italian border, you won't miss the small village of Gandria. It is one of the most beautiful villages on the lake and in the canton of Ticino. At the foot of Mount Bré, this picturesque village offers its most beautiful view, like many, from the lake. To visit the village, there is nothing better than getting lost in the narrow streets on foot and admiring the old olive oil press, for example.
