At the beginning of the 18th century, fishermen's wives sold fish on the Minck, at the foot of the Leughenaer tower and right next to the fishing boats. In 1863, a covered market was built on the Minck. In 1902, a superb building was inaugurated and became the fish market, where the Bazennes (fishermen's wives) boasted the quality of their products. The building did not survive the war, but it is still possible to buy freshly landed fish at unbeatable prices at the aubettes! Four aubettes are regularly open.

It is one of the five places belonging to the Coopérative Maritime Etaploise. Red mullet, cod, scallops, mackerel, sole, sea bream, flounder, squid, cuttlefish, sea bass... These are just a few examples of the thirty or so freshly caught seafood products that you will find here - depending on the season and the supply. Add to that excellent delicatessen preparations such as cod terrines, or simply seafood platters.

La poissonnerie gourmande isn't just a fishmonger's in Boulogne-sur-Mer, it's a new space like a covered market that also sells fresh fish, local produce, a catering area and an oyster bar. Here, everything is made on site. And the most original feature is the shellfish dispenser, like a drinks dispenser, which operates 24 hours a day, should you get a craving for shrimp in the middle of the night!
