Events calendar Bassin d'Arcachon

For more than 40 years, the traditional festivals of the Port have punctuated the holidays at the beginning of August on the oyster port. Five restaurants with regional specialities, fairground attractions, entertainment, balls, night markets and exhibitions enliven La Teste in a popular and friendly atmosphere. 630 volunteers are active every year, training new generations to make these festivities a festive and unforgettable moment. Bandas and orchestras add to the joy of life that is spread over 4 days. The whole thing is punctuated on Sunday evening by fireworks!

As each year, the national water ice sculpture competition creates the event in Andernos-les-Bains. First of the competitions, demonstration of ice sculptures by professionals and the best workers in France, as well as by amateurs. The Louis Davis house in Andernos-les-Bains, the artistic exhibition place, welcomes the autumn exhibition in September. This event is an opportunity to discover an artist from either here or beyond. One example: in 2014, the artist Michel Rozier, a painter and sculptor, was honoured. Free and free entry. On-site restoration possible.

Here's an event not to be missed if you're in Arcachon with the family during the summer. Every Wednesday, the Arcamômes festival takes place in the enchanting setting of the Théâtre de Verdure in the Parc Mauresque. Live shows for children aged 4 to 12: circus, music, magic, theater, your little ones (and you) will be delighted by these performances, which come to life at dusk for an even more fabulous and poetic side! Admission is free, and no reservation is necessary!

The Arcachon Carnival theme this year is «Arcachon Carnival and its funny machines». Travel in time and in various universes, a true pleasure for eyes in a beautiful atmosphere.

In the way of festivals, it is a true holiday village that offers you on the park and Pereire beach. Accompanying the regatta of the "18 hours to the sailing" of Arcachon, the event wants to be festive, greedy but also musical. It is in July that epicurean meet, 2017 celebration the 15 ^th edition of the Tchanquetas. It's five days dedicated to the celebration and dancing with jazz and Latin music. The Cadences festival is dance in all its forms of expression! Every year in September, five days of festivities take place in the exceptional setting of the Bay of Arcachon. Flamenco, classical, baroque, hip-hop, contemporary, African, jazz? Cadences offers many shows for a week rich in emotion. Companies from all over the world are invited to express dance as a universal language, offering original creations. Performances take place at the Olympia Theatre, the Port Theatre and even on the beach! Around these shows are organized exhibitions and choreographic workshops, as well as free shows on the sand.

This now famous regatta of the basin takes place every year at the beginning of July from Saturday 6 pm to Sunday noon. The weekend is also chosen according to the full moon. Les 18 heures d'Arcachon à la Voile is a festive event that brings together hundreds of sailing boats of different sizes. It's THE pool race! It brings together sailing enthusiasts, both sailors and yachtsmen. It's a colourful sight to see hundreds of spis swollen in the wind...

Over the years, the Jumping des Sables d'Arcachon has established itself as one of the must-see events in the national equestrian calendar. The event brings together the best French riders around numerous events, including a very spectacular one on the Pereire beach at low tide. Over three days at the beginning of June, various show jumping competitions, entertainment, equestrian shows and the famous Derby on the beach follow one another at the equestrian centre.

On 25 March, this is the day of the Annunciation. The city of Arcachon offers the pretext for organising the city's employer's party every year. It is an opportunity to celebrate the heritage, culture and traditions of the city. History tells us that a monk would have prayed on the beach for a crew in distress and that his prayers were fulfilled. He finds shortly after a statue of the Virgin Mary in alabaster. Since then, worship is celebrated by a mass celebrated in the basilica and procession on the jetty of the Seafaring chapel followed by a wine of honour. Organized by Kansas Dance Association, this event reveals country culture in all its facets. Of course there will be dance demonstrations and animations where the public can improvise a few steps, but also many stands and playful workshops like the mechanical rodeo, all in a 100% Western decor. The festivities will start on Friday, June 22, starting at 8 p. m.
