There are two funiculars in Istanbul, with the same fare as other transportation in the city and which make the same trip between Kabataş and Taksim :

Funicular: very convenient. It connects the Zeitinburnu-Kabataş streetcar line with Taksim.

Tünel or "Old Metro". It is the second oldest subway in the world (1871) after London's, and it is still in operation. It was built by the Frenchman Eugene Henri Gavand to connect the city's business districts. It avoids the Galata slope and runs until late at night.

There are several ways to reach the city center from the airport.

ATVO bus no. 35 (Express line). Every 30 minutes from 6am to 0.20am. 10 €, 18 € A/R.

ACTV buses no. 15 and 45 for the center and Mestre station.

ACTV bus no. 5 Aerobus. Every 30 minutes from 4.10am to 1.10am. 10 €, 18 € A/R.

Vaporetto Alilaguna. Go to the pier 10 minutes' walk from the airport (covered transfer area). 15 €, 27 € return to Lido or Venice. One or two departures per hour, from approx. 6 a.m. to midnight.

Water cab to San Marco for 1 to 6 people. 110/130 € approx.

The Alilaguna company provides a connection between Marco Polo airport and Venice. Count on average 1h to 1h15 to reach the stops served in the lagoon and on the Grand Canal. It's quite long but much more pleasant than the bus ride... You will see the city opening up little by little before your eyes, right on the water... a great show! Five lines in total, the blue one (Airport, Murano, Lido, San Marco), the orange one (Airport, Guglie, Rialto, San Maria del Giglio) and the red one (Certosa, Lido, San Marco and Cruise Terminal) embody this network.

The central station of Rome was begun shortly before the Second World War, it is a modern building, close to the rationalist aesthetic of the 1930s. It houses all kinds of stores. Roma Termini serves all regional destinations (Fiumicino airport, Tivoli...) and many national and European destinations.

Luggage storage (follow the signs: deposito bagagli in Termini): located in via Giolitti.

Car rental. The main car rental companies (Europcar, Avis, Hertz...) have their counters on the Via Giolitti side.

Ryanair offers two flights a day from Beauvais-Tillé airport (so far, so near). These flights serve Ciampino airport, on the outskirts of Rome, and take an average of 2h15. To get to Beauvais airport, a paying bus service departs from Porte Maillot for ticket-holding passengers. The journey takes around 1h15. Ryanair also offers direct flights from Bordeaux, Figari, Lourdes, Marseille, Toulouse and Brussels-Charleroi or Zaventem.

It is the largest airport in the country and has all the services required: wifi, ATM, catering, duty free... It is located about 20 kilometres from the city centre. Be careful, it is necessary to specify to the taxi driver, at your departure, if you are leaving from terminal 1 or 3 (sala, in Arabic). Terminal 3 is now the main point of departure for Europe. It is indeed terminal 3 and not hall 3 (beb 3, in Arabic) of terminal 1: please be absolutely clear!

The Autonomous Port of Marseille is the number one in France and is particularly used for its regular lines to the Maghreb, Corsica and its neighbouring island, Sardinia. It has enclosed and secure cruise terminals and is very easy to access, as it is served by numerous means of public transport via the Joliette, metro or tranway. Numerous cruises also stop here since the city's tourist boom in 2013.

AMT (Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti) is the company responsible for public transport in Genoa. It operates a network of 138 bus lines, 1 metro line, 2 funiculars, 1 creeper, 10 lifts and 1 boat-bus line out of a total of 900 km. Active from 4 a. m. to 3 a. m., the links are efficient and regular.

Genova Pass. 24 h AMT + Trenitalia (except Volabus).

Bus. The city is served by a large network of urban and extra-urban lines.

Subway. A 8-station line connects Brin to the northwestern end of the city at Brignole Station. It is active between 6:30 a. m. and 9:00 p. m.

Funiculars. The two funiculars Zecca Righi and Sant 'Anna and the mesh of Granarolo are one of the best ways to reach the heights of Genoa.

Ascencers. A dozen public lifts connect the city to the upper parts.

It's Navebus. A shuttle boat connects Porto Antico to the west coast of Genoa (Pegli) in 30 min at the same rate as urban transport.

Volabus. Connect Genoa to the aréoport.

There are two main train stations in Genoa, Brignole (east) and Principe (west), at almost equal distance from the center, which can be reached on foot or by bus. Luggage lockers in both. Principe is the main rail hub of the area, but most trains also stop in Brignole. The metro connects the two in a few minutes (tickets available at tobacconists). For any connection with France, change trains in Ventimiglia, from there direct trains to Nice and Menton. Otherwise, you have to go through Milan or Turin.

The city's main station and Alexandria's terminus. "Mahattat Misr" is an Egyptian National Railways station, served by trains on the Alexandria - Cairo route. Located close to the center of Alexandria, it's a convenient way to get to the west of the city, to the beaches of Agami. The railway station is about 1 km south of Midan Ramla. If you're arriving from Cairo and heading into the city center around Midan Saad Zaghloul, make sure you stay as far as this stop.

Sidi Gaber Station is one of the two main railway stations in Alexandria. It was built in the late 1850s. It is the oldest railway station in Egypt. You get off there to get more easily from the district of Sporting Club, Semouha to all the east of the city. You can take Sharia el-Horreya to the north, or to Semuha to the south. Inside the station you will find a few restaurants and cafes to keep you waiting.

Some metro stations are impressive: extremely clean and spacious, with all-marble platforms and corridors and even collections of antique finds or ruins! Italy's railroads. Frecciarossa high-speed trains link several major Italian cities. Book in advance on the Internet to save money on these lines. To get around Rome, however, always use regional trains. They're a little slower, but often a lot cheaper! What's more, their fares don't vary according to date, but only according to kilometers traveled: so you can buy your Roma-Anzio ticket at the last minute. How convenient!

To experience at least once the sensation of crossing the lagoon in a speedboat like James Bond. In the historic center, an ordinary medium-distance trip will cost you a minimum of €69 (e.g. from Piazzale Roma to San Marco). Rates vary widely according to the route and the driver. It's a good idea to take a water cab with more than one person, as from 4 people the cost will be amortized. There are dedicated terminals, or any hotel can place an order.

Venice can be reached by bus from many European destinations and all of Italy. All buses stop at the bus station in Piazzale Roma, where you will find a tourist office annex and a luggage storage room. This is the ideal stop for those staying in San Polo or Santa Croce (and even further afield). In fact, the ferry terminals for the center are almost opposite the bus terminal. From there, at the end of your stay, you can also reach the Marco Polo airport by road.

This company works for NGOs and connects Tbilisi to Touchetia. There is no regular line, but they can be contacted to try to find a seat on one of their flights. As the roads in Touchetia are considered among the most dangerous in the world and inaccessible in winter, a helicopter flight offers spectacular scenery. The Omalo airfield is well laid out and flights are also available for the inhabitants of the remote valleys. A kind of air "taxi".

About 20 km from the city centre. Regular flights to Turkey, Europe, Russia, Persian Gulf countries... Low cost flights land between 3 and 4 am.

Buses 37 and 137 (0.50 GEL) connect Place de la Gare via Avenue Rustaveli to the airport, round trips 24 hours a day every 30 minutes, in 60/70 minutes depending on traffic.

Taxi: the best option. Negotiate beforehand, fare between 30 and 50 GEL, have the exact account, journey about 30 minutes. No credit card.

Piazzale Roma is a must for all travelers arriving in Venice by bus from Marco Polo, Treviso or Mestre airports. Located near the Santa Lucia train station, this esplanade is the last place in Venice where you can drive. There's also a vaporetto station, providing access to the city's main points of interest and to nearby islands such as Murano and Lido. However, Piazzale Roma itself is of no tourist interest. It's a transit point where visitors can catch a bus or vaporetto to Venice's historic center.

Located in the heart of Old Lyon, this small terminal station serves mainly the west outskirts of Lyon (Lozanne, Tassin-la-Demi, St-Germain-au-Monts-d'Or, etc.). It hosts an average of 5 500 passengers per day.

This company offers direct connections between Ciampino and Fiumicino airports and Termini station, in the heart of Rome (a bus every 40 minutes/1 hour). We strongly advise you to book on their website to ensure a seat (it's often very busy at the airport!) and benefit from their special fare. Taking a trip between the 4 stations of the Vaporetto on the Saône River has become a habit for those who want an easy link between Vaise, Vieux Lyon (Saint-Paul), Bellecour and Confluence, without having to use asphalt. The place, not entirely foreign to movie lovers, served as the unique setting for Gare Centrale, one of Youssef Chahine's most famous films. The large building, built in the 19th century, is rather elegant for a railway station. It remains the junction between the railway and the metro. The colossal statue of Ramses II that stood in the middle of the footbridges has been moved, suffering from pollution. A recent company created in May 2016 out of the ashes of SNCM. A 2,450-metre underground traffic axis, the Prado-Carénage Tunnel links the city's southern districts and the East motorway in a few minutes, in the city centre, and, to the north via the Old Port Tunnel, the Major Tunnel and the Joliette Tunnel, the Coastal Motorway. For a few euros, you can avoid traffic jams in the city centre during rush hour, and gain in speed as well, since it will only take you a few minutes to get from La Capelette to La Joliette. In addition to the hill of Fourvière, this railway station serves mainly west Lyonnais. Important multimodal pole, it offers direct correspondence with line D of the subway and numerous buses on the TCL network.

Passenger traffic through the port of Genoa is very heavy every year. The Stazione Marittima has several berths for cruise ships, just a few steps from the Porto Antico and the historic center. If you're in a real hurry and the trains are full, try your luck without a reservation. A photocopy of your passport will be required. This is the most important station in the Middle of Egypt. Buses every hour for Minyeh and Assiout and some for Le (for this last destination, prefer departure from Midan Guiza; it's gone, it goes in minibus, but it's better).

Cairo Getaway (formerly Turgoman) is Cairo's main bus station. From there one leaves for Alexandria and the Mediterranean coast, the Suez Canal region, the Sinai, the deserts and the Nile valley. It is wise to buy your ticket one or two days in advance and have the time and place of departure confirmed. Prices vary somewhat depending on the airline you choose, but on average you should expect to pay around 20 Egyptian pounds for a 100 km trip.

The Greek rail network has shrunk considerably in recent years. Only the line between Athens and the north of the country has been modernised. From Larissis Central Station, trains mainly connect Athens and Thessaloniki as well as some of the country's major cities (Larissa, Kalambaka...).
