AMICALE DES PÊCHEURS D'ANTIOCHE

Fishing

Since 1992, the friendly fishermen of Antioch have been driving the port of Saint-Denis-d'Oléron, rich in a fishing team from all sides. Recreational fishermen, competition, edge or boat, but above all lovers of sea fishing. People or tourists, everyone has a place and is happy to practice. This melting pot creates conviviality and friendships: we are self-help, we share his knowledge of fisheries and his good spots. If he does not have a boat, if he shares the same values as friendly, can find a boarding for an exit from the sea. All this is organised at the friendly hotlines on the port of Saint-Denis. The room is on the northern parking lot behind the shopping centre. Welcome to talk fishing whether you are a non-member. LaAmicale regularly organises training meetings with high-level external stakeholders or with the club's competitors. Friendly outings are organized on specific themes based on fish at the moment: lures fishing, bream fishing, shark fishing, lean fishing. A periodical bulletin informs about the current sea fisheries in Oléron.

PASCAL CAPITAINE

Fishing

A guide to fishing on the island of Oléron, Pascal Captain, the likeable and expert captain-fisherman in the name predestined, takes you to the good posts for a sports and intimate fishing. In oyster and bouchots parks, in the realm of surface lures! It's in the southern part of the Island of Oléron by the presence of oyster aquaculture and myticulture that allows an entire ecosystem to evolve through tides. Here the bar finds its food. It's a shallow fishery (between 1 and 3 metres), very technical, with light material, hard lures, on sites where beautiful fish are on the lookout. The fight in force by the bar is exciting. Fish are sometimes reduced by several kilos. Do not delude yourself: fishing on the parks maybe… sporty! When conditions are not favourable to surface fishing on oyster parks, they are joined in the north, in more distant and deep fishing areas. The fishery is then pulled away by handling soft lures or exploded jiggs at the boat's edge (vertical fishing), or by launching lightweight soft lures (fly fishing). In both cases it is possible to try bars… and lean.

Saint-Georges-d'Oléron is a town on the island of Oléron. One of the region's main attractions is Fort Boyard, famous thanks to the TV show of the same name. Built in the 19th century to protect the Charente estuary, the fort is now an emblematic monument of the region. It can be admired from Boyardville beach or the Saumonards state forest, or on a sea cruise. In addition to Fort Boyard, Saint-Georges-d'Oléron also offers other heritage attractions. The town's Romanesque church, listed as a historic monument, is the oldest on the island. It boasts a beautifully sculpted facade, a model ex-voto ship and a wooden Virgin and Child. The Château Fournier, built in 1877, is another place of interest to visit. Also nearby is the Villa Briquet, dating from 1881, with its charming history. Finally, the fish locks are another important part of Saint-Georges-d'Oléron's heritage. These horseshoe-shaped structures, built according to an ancestral method, were used as fish traps. In conclusion, Saint-Georges-d'Oléron offers visitors the chance to discover the famous Fort Boyard and other interesting heritage sites. Whether admiring the scenery from the beach, visiting a historic church or exploring the fish locks, there's something for everyone.
