Tourism around the Northern Lights developed in the 2000s. Today, Tromsø, even if its summer tourism develops little by little, remains a winter destination. And in particular for the Aurora hunting. In winter, when the snow repainted the city of a pretty white, we observe the hordes of tourists who leave the city center from 18h to get away from the light pollution and attend the magical and colored ballet of the Northern Lights.

The Laponie Mush agency is run by a French couple and organizes dog sledding tours in small groups lasting from a few hours to several days. Snowshoeing, ice fishing, sauna, northern lights observation... Accommodation is available in a typical Swedish chalet (two double bedrooms, kitchen...). Musher Juha-Pekka was one of the first to develop dog sledding in Lapland. He knows his 150 dogs by name, and trains them personally so that each one finds his place in the team. There are several safari options to choose from: from 1 hour to several days, in the middle of the forest and nature. For your information, the dogs cover around 12 km in 1 hour. A powerful and authentic excursion, far off the beaten tourist track. If you never want to leave this magical place, you can book a bed and breakfast.

Ounasvaara is the hill of Rovaniemi. Transformed into a summer and winter sports park, this is where the locals gather to practice their favourite sport. In winter, there are a dozen accessible downhill ski slopes, a freeride area and a snow park. It is also possible to go sledding in a buoy on an 800 m long track and reach 50 km/h! For the amateurs, it is also possible to take advantage of 100 km of cross-country ski tracks. The rest of the year, there are many walking routes.

It's Finland's biggest ski resort, with 43 green, blue, red and black runs, not to mention two snowparks. The longest run measures 2,500 m. At night, 15 slopes are floodlit and there are restaurants on the resort. All around, there are 230 km of cross-country ski trails, groomed every day, including 28 km of lit trails, 16 cabins and rest areas along the trails. Three stores to rent your equipment and pick up your ski passes: for families, for intermediate skiers and for pros (lift no. 6).

This downhill ski resort is located at 700 m above the Arctic Circle and can be skied until June under the midnight sun. Much of the resort's fame comes from the incredible off-piste terrain, but gentler slopes suitable for all levels are also available. Choose from 15 trails ranging from green to black or discover your own path on the off-piste terrain, even in summer!

Fifteen runs down the Sallan Pyhätunturit mountain (477 m), a snow park, and all around 160 km of cross-country ski trails, 43 of which are lit. Also a swimming pool on site. A family resort that offers fun for all types of people! Nothing to do with our resorts, but the landscapes and their splendid lights are there! A place to spend a nice holiday and the opportunity to enjoy Finland and its outdoor activities. In summer, there are many hiking trails to explore the forest and its views.

Travelers must have come across a number of reindeer on the roads (nearly 15,000 in the wild!). Those who travel during the coldest months of the year can extend their stay in Kautokeino to enjoy a unique experience: sleigh rides on the snow. This is what Sokki Adventure offers: to discover the local culture by teaching visitors to steer sleds and toboggans on a snowy track, but also to gather under a big tent around a fire with the local population. The Yllas-Ski resort is attached to the village of Akaslompolo. It is located on the northern slopes of Mount Yllas. The Sport Resort Yllas (Yllasjarvi) is linked to the Yllas Ski resort, giving skiers access to a total of 63 runs, stretching over 53 km, and 23 lifts. Ski passes are valid for both resorts. Other activities include snowshoeing, ski-cross, mountain biking, snowmobiling, horseback riding and saunas. Ideal for the whole family and all budgets.

Just 10 kilometres from Kemijärvi, head for Off-piste adventures, a riding centre that organises horseback rides all year round. Here, you can ride Finnish horses, which are protected by the European Union. You can also use the centre to improve your technique, thanks to the outdoor arenas for jumping. In winter, you can also take a ride on a reindeer-drawn sleigh, or simply discover the reindeer on the farm in summer.

Jean-Baptiste is French. He has a passion for Norway and in particular for the Lofoten where he has been living for several years now. Hiking, skiing, surfing, night walks, Jean-Baptiste is the perfect guide if you want to venture off the beaten track! He will introduce you to the Lofoten in his own way. With a great knowledge of the terrain and the premises, he will also be able to give you many tips to make your stay perfect. The little extra is the local meal at Maren Ana's restaurant, which he and his girlfriend in Sørvågen have!

The Destinatjon 71° Nord agency offers several winter and summer activities to allow visitors to discover the North Cape region. From the end of May to the end of September a 3 hours 30 excursion on board a small Zodiac to fish this famous giant crab which lives on the coast between Murmansk and Tromsø. The crabs are truly gigantic! In winter, direction North Cape by quad or snowmobile, the adventure awaits you at Destinatjon 71° North.

It's a great place for ski fans, with a few steep slopes to enjoy. Not only is it one of the few ski resorts in Lofoten, it's also one of the best exposed. In front of you, the sea as far as the eye can see and the cliffs of the surrounding area set the scene. And there's something for everyone, as the downhill slopes are surrounded by groomed cross-country ski trails. There's also a café with terrace for breaks.
