Saint Florent developed around a ford from the Roman era. During the entire Middle Ages, bridges followed, regularly swept away by floods. In 1641, Henri de Condé was entrusted with the construction of the bridge to Jean Justice, but floods l as early as 1642 and had to be repaired again. At the beginning of the th century, the Cher and Auron crossed through wooden bridges: they were taken by the floods of 1823. In 1831 it was Mr. Brunet, owner of the castle and mayor of Saint-Florent, who built the stone bridge still in service today.
