MEILLANT CASTLE
A thousand-year-old château blending the styles of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, nestled in the heart of a magnificent park with century-old trees.
Transformed in the 15th century by Charles I d'Amboise, chamberlain to Louis XII, this château reveals its splendid duality in the heart of a park of ancient trees. On one side, moats, bare stonework and austere towers; on the other, a flamboyant Gothic facade with a hint of Italian Renaissance influence. Permanent exhibitions provide an insight into the building's past. The fall of 2024 was marked by the death of Aimery de Mortemart, owner of the château. The reopening date will be announced as soon as it is finalized.
