THE ANCIENT FORTIFICATIONS
From the ancient fortifications that surrounded the city of Aubigny, from xiiith or xivth century, there are only three towers and a few vestiges. The rue de la Porte-du-Cygne retains some traces of the Porte-des-Foulons, which was flanked by two horseshoe towers. We still see an inner part of this door, with the groove in which the herse slipped. Along the Mail-Guichard, two horseshoe towers, connected by a curtain, are pierced by archers. As many traces of history to discover as the origin of the city coat of arms that remains unknown, representing a feremail - loop with its ardillon used once as a mantle pole - and now remains a belt buckle. Would it be the graphic expression of a O from the phonem "Au" d 'Aubigny and the clip, the Nère crossing the city?
