CASTLE AND ESTATE OF SUSCINIO
Castle, witness of the life of the Dukes of Brittany, inviting to relive the great episodes of its history through animations.
Built at the end of the Middle Ages, probably under the impetus of Pierre de Dreux and especially his son Jean1er dit Leroux in the first half of the 13th century, the Domaine de Suscinio, ideally situated between land and sea, stands in what was once a vast wooded area, now classified as a protected natural area endowed with a rich biodiversity. This exceptional testimony to the life of the Dukes of Brittany, for whom it was the preferred residence, underwent several major restoration campaigns under the Montfort ducal dynasty. From 1532, Château de Suscinio became part of the royal domain. Among the prestigious owners who succeeded one another over the centuries were Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Médicis and Henri IV... Today, the estate welcomes you all year round and offers you the chance to reawaken its legends and relive the great episodes in its history and rich life through numerous events. During the summer months, don't miss the Suscinio nocturnes: the walls of the estate are adorned with light and sound as night falls, delivering a moving historical spectacle. The evenings end with a fireworks display. Oyé, oyé, notice to the public: put on warm clothes and shoes (not all parts of the building are heated) to set off after the visit on the discovery trails, some 65 hectares of natural areas accessible to all free of charge.
Des animations sont comprises dans le billet: tour des douves en barques, tir à l'arbalète, observation des oiseaux, théâtre d'ombres chinoises, déguisements... Nous avons fait la visite avec un enfant de 6 ans et il a beaucoup aimé.
