ROCK SITE
An emblematic site offering a view of the Vilaine, the bridges and the marina
The Rocher site is an emblematic part of La Roche-Bernard, as much for its view of the Vilaine River, the bridges and the marina, as for its history. Legend has it that it was upon seeing this rock and the site that the city's founders - Vikings, it seems - decided to settle here. Two fine cannons sit here, salvaged from the Just ship sunk during the Battle of the Cardinals in 1759. The site is one of the points of interest on the heritage trail set up by the commune.
