Fort located on Plage de l'Eventail, opposite the Château de Saint-Malo, accessible at low tide from Cale Saint-Vincent
Located on the Éventail beach opposite Saint-Malo castle, the Fort National was built in 1689 by Garangeau to Vauban's plans and on the orders of the Sun King. Accessible at low tide from the cale Saint-Vincent, it can be visited when the French flag is raised. The ammunition dungeon, the bastion, the Spanish-style door, the powder magazine and the cistern hood are all points of interest in this symbol of Malouin history. Tales of legend, memories of Chateaubriand or the remains of the Second World War are all yours to discover.

Open to visitors from June to September. Fort opening times depend on the tides and change daily. Free for children under 6. Adults: €5. Children (aged 6 to 16): €3. Groups (10 people): €4. Event evenings available. Guided tour.

A historic monument built in 1689 by the great military architect Vauban to protect the port of Saint Malo, the fort's history is closely linked to that of the corsair city.

All tours of the Fort are guided by an experienced guide who will meet you at the top of the drawbridge.
Tours last around 35 minutes. Accessible on foot at low tide, the Fort National invites you to cross its drawbridge to cross the centuries. A visit to the bastion, whose granite walls are at one with the rock, will take you back over three centuries of the Fort's military life: from the imposing cistern to the ammunition dungeon, from legendary maritime attacks to the epic duels of privateer Robert Surcouf, from the memories of Chateaubriand to the tragic hours of the Second World War. The tour text is available to foreign visitors in the following languages: English, German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish.
