Vorgium, formerly known as Carhaix, was a Gallic city that was later Romanized. Founded at the beginning of our era, it was the capital of the Osismes, a Gallic people. After Julius Caesar's conquest of Gaul, the region was reorganized administratively by Augustus, Rome's first emperor. Vorgium became an important city in the Roman province of Lyons Gaul. Today, you can discover the city's history at the Vorgium Archaeological Museum.
