Markets Brest

Every Sunday morning, Brest residents go to the Saint-Louis market, rain or shine! It crosses the rue de Siam and a part of the rue de Lyon: it is the market of the city center and it has its fans. You will find products from local producers around the Saint-Louis church (fruits, organic vegetables, roasted chicken), but also stalls of spices, clothes and flowers. For your meal, the choice is large with Breton dishes, delicatessen or the numerous Brazilian, Asian and even Reunionese food-trucks!

Probably one of the smallest markets in Brest, but surely the most charming! Right in the heart of the village of Saint-Marc, you'd think you were in a village square. Here, you'll quickly find your feet and your habits, greeted by shopkeepers, each more friendly than the last. Market gardeners (many of them organic), cheesemongers, delicatessens and butchers, fishmongers, as well as bread, pastries and olives: there's really nothing missing from this little market! Away from the crowds, you'll appreciate the peacefulness of this Tuesday rendezvous, which ends with pleasure on the terrace of the local café or at Dj Bilig's crêperie, which we love!

The Kérinou organic market is aptly named, as we will find all the good local products (all organic, or almost!) that will irrigate our plates all week. But a market is sometimes a question of habits, of routines. You go to "your" butcher, "your" market gardener, "your" cheese maker. If you are just passing through Brest or if you have just arrived, let yourself be surprised, try it out, here everything is good and you will be welcomed with good humour, whether the weather is gloomy or all about the promise of a beautiful day.

The regulars have their habits, the newcomers will not be lost and will quickly find their marks. It is a classic market, of course, we know the dance steps. But it's also something else, an extra soul to discover.
