LA CAVE À JAJA

Caviste
5/5
9 reviews
Closed - Open to 10h00

La Cave à Jaja will make you stop buying wine in supermarkets. Erwan Bouger is super-friendly, with good advice, and his wines are at rock-bottom prices. His hobby: finding good wines from small producers, for small budgets and amateurs without too much moderation... And he knows a thing or two about it: thirty years as a bartender in Brest, that's enough to make a wine merchant! Located near Saint-Martin church, don't be fooled by the small size of his store: his references are numerous, at all prices, for all tastes. La Cave à Jaja also scours the markets of Brest. The shop's subtitle sums it all up: "Atypical cellar for epicureans"!

If a list of the most beautiful shops existed, Les Bocaux d'Ana would get gold hands down! A mixture of past and modernity floats in this bulk grocery store: the layout, in pastel tones, plunges us both into the antique grocery stores of our childhood and into a very 21st century decor. If you are not yet familiar with bulk, enter the shop and you will immediately succumb to it. Very educational and simple pictograms will lead you there, and you will find all the containers you need to get started.

Closed - Open to 10h00

Octopus is an exclusively plant-based patisserie, a first in Brest, and even in Brittany! The idea behind this project was Galaad's desire to rethink traditional pastry recipes to create cakes that could be enjoyed by everyone, including vegetarians, vegans and allergy sufferers. As a result, you'll find no milk, eggs, butter or animal gelatin in the pastry chef's entremets, made from natural and organic products, with no additives. Lemon and chocolate tarts rub shoulders with refined fruit creations, evolving with the seasons, as well as pumpkin brioche, buckwheat muffin and hazelnut croquant, for a gourmet moment.

TARTINES D’AUTREFOIS

Bakery

Recognised as a "quality artisan producer" in 2020 by the Collège Culinaire de France, Tartines d'Autrefois continues its fine reputation, and the district proves it by its loyalty. The welcome here is friendly, the know-how is here, old-fashioned and in the tradition. French home-made bread, Mitronette baguette (made with "Label Rouge" flour), seed, corn or seaweed breads, Muesli, Pavé d'Augustin or Pagnou make people happy in the Saint-Marc district, and their pastries and fine tarts sparkle and make your eyes sparkle. Émilie Lallemand and Édouard Lenoc are talented, and their aperitif strings, burgers and pizzas are most appetizing.

LA FOURNÉE À BREST

Bakery

This well-known bakery on Rue Jaurès offers its specialities in a welcoming setting. In addition to the traditional snacks (paninis, sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, quiches of the day), they offer excellent "snack" breads. Their pastry is to die for. We fell in love with the lemon dome tartlet, the mille-feuille with a crème brûlée cover, or the naughty blueberry. They also offer three organic breads (tourte meule, tourte seigle and petit épeautre), and everything is made on site.

CARPE DIEM

Regional grocery cheese and cream shops

Isabelle Plouhinec opened this delicatessen in April 2015, out of love for simple things and quality products. She set herself a rule, the 4 F's: Fresh, Fine, Famous, Finisterian! It's all been said! There are a few twists and turns (for Roquefort cheese for example), but shhh! Isabelle is a cheese maker, and offers in her shop rare, local and carefully selected products. You will find raw milk and farmhouse cheeses, well known in France, terrines, jams, as well as good bottles of wine to go with it. Isabelle's advice is good and her warm, enthusiastic welcome is priceless. An address to recommend!

BRASSERIE DU BARIL

Gourmet products Beer and brewery

In Craft Beer We Trust!

This leitmotiv sums up well the spirit of the first artisanal brewery in Brest, which was founded in July 2015 in the Saint-Pierre district, with the declared desire to give back to Brest its brewing know-how. Benoît, at the origin of the project, surrounded by Sébastien, Guillaume and Daniel, also wanted to offer a beer made from local and organic raw materials, part of a short virtuous circuit, to the delight of lovers of traditional beers from all the Biocoop in Brittany.

Their committed and festive project took the form of four recipes: the trapper's beer, Captain Baril, Original Barrel and White Barrel. And because they like to enhance the value of their territory, all their "drêches" (malt grain husks) are offered to the Traon Bihan farm, the last dairy farm in Brest, to feed the cows, whose milk is converted into farm yoghurt to supply the city's canteens, for the happiness of all the children in Brest. This is a committed company that is enjoying a growing and deserved success.
