An incomparable, virtually impregnable fort that transports us back in time, it has been pillaged and almost ravaged, except for the keep.
This old feudal castle, built of pink sandstone, stands on a rocky spur jutting out into the sea. Fort la Latte, also known as Château de la Roche Goyon, is an incomparable site that transports you back in time. Built in the 14th century, this virtually impregnable fortress, repeatedly besieged, belonged to the Goyons, one of Brittany's oldest families. In the 16th century, the Ligueurs stormed the castle and managed to gain entry. It was looted and almost entirely destroyed, with the exception of the keep. Transformed into a coastal defense fort between 1690 and 1715, its protective system is still in place: curtain walls, towers, walls, drawbridges, dungeons and keep have survived the centuries. Gradually abandoned during the 19th century, it was declassified in 1890 and sold by the Domaines in 1892. It was largely in ruins when it was classified as a historic monument in 1925. Restored since 1931 by the Joüon des Longrais family, it has been used as a set for a number of film shoots: Les Vikings with Kirk Douglas, Philippe de Broca's Les Chouans and, more recently, the video clip for the song La tribu de Dana, by the group Manau, and the film Les Trois Mousquetaires (2023)! Today, it's one of the most visited castles in Brittany. Children will love exploring its nooks and crannies, guardhouse and keep. From up there, you'll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Emerald Coast! Note: the fort usually hosts a medieval festival in early August.

Transformed into a coastal defense fort between 1690 and 1715, Château de La Roche Goyon remains first and foremost a fortified castle, with its 14th-century defensive system still in place.
Exceptional site and panorama.
The walls, gatehouses, barbican, towers, dungeons, keep and iron ball retting furnace have stood the test of time.
Bricole, cannons and crossbows are reminders of its military past. Its chapel is dedicated to St Michel.
Numerous panels are displayed throughout the visit to explain the defensive features and history of the fortress.
A medieval garden with medicinalplants , a labyrinth of santolines and a vegetable garden enhance the visit.
Open daily from April to September. Open every afternoon in October, during school vacations and weekends in low season.
Every two years, the château organizes the Grandes Médiévales in August.
The next Grandes Médiévales at Château de la Roche Goyon - Fort La Latte will take place in 2025, with knights' tournaments, falconry, shows, medieval village, market, children's activities, wooden games...
The château is closed on December 25 and January 1. The castle is closed annually from January until the winter vacations in February.

Zu Ihrer Antwort: Oberhalb der Anlage steht ein Schild, auf dem ein gelber Radweg eingezeichnet ist.
Was bitte ist für Sie "eingeschränkte Mobilität"? Meine beiden Kniegelenke sind dermaßen hin, dass sie ausgetauscht werden müssen. Das reicht nicht?
Es gibt nirgends ein gut sichtbares Schild, auf dem die Modalitäten und Zeiten für die Shuttlebusse erklärt sind.
Dann sagt man um 18:09 Uhr lieber, es geht nicht und lässt eine Person von dannen hinken!
Le parking a le mérite d'être gratuit et spacieux par contre, les sanitaires proposés par la municipalité sont honteux, aucun n'a de verrou, pas d'eau, pas de papier. Les toilettes sèches peuvent être un choix écologique mais leur état d'abandon dit clairement quelque chose de ce que la municipalité pensent des touristes... Les vaches a lait sont donc repartis sans visiter le Cap Fréhel, refusant de donner un rond a cette commune en parking et entrées...
Le site est magnifique !
La buvette est aussi sympathique, j'y ai dégusté un glace poivron-framboise très bonne et surprenante !
