On the edge of the Hunaudaye forest, in Plédéliac, stands the imposing architecture of a château whose oldest remains date back to the 13th century. Built by the powerful Tournemine family and destroyed in 1341 during the War of the Breton Succession, it was rebuilt in the 15th century: the three largest towers and the dwellings date from this period. As the Tournemine family declined, so did the château from the 17th century onwards. Looted during the French Revolution, it was used as a stone quarry in the 19th century. Many buildings disappeared, and one end even collapsed. Bought by the State in 1930, it underwent a vast restoration campaign between 2005 and 2008: the successful integration of modern materials with medieval remains allows us to appreciate the soul of this château. You'll be able to see a drawbridge and several living areas such as kitchens, cellars and the seigniorial hall. The towers have been beautifully restored, in particular the military tower, entirely occupied by a spiral staircase. The top of the chapel tower offers a fine panoramic view over the countryside. It's also possible to access the curtain walls and walkways. Never short of anecdotes, our guides will immerse you in medieval daily life.
