CHAOS DE PLOUMANAC'H
This classified natural site is one of the most beautiful and impressive parts of the Pink Granite Coast
This natural site is one of the most beautiful and impressive parts of the Pink Granite Coast. Here, between the turquoise sea and the moors of heather and gorse, the pink granite rocks have accumulated in number, forming impressive chaos with particularly picturesque shapes: you can see an elephant's foot, a skull, a mushroom or even fiancés kissing... In the middle, the lighthouse of Men Ruz (Red Stone, in Breton) is also made of this granite which blazes at the slightest ray of sunlight. Formed underground 300 million years ago, it is made of magma brought up from the depths, very slowly cooled and then exposed by erosion and polished by water and wind. In the heart of the site of Ploumanac'h, the Maison du Littoral houses exhibitions on the origin of this pink granite, on the moors or on the history of the Sentier des douaniers. The guards of the Conservatoire du Littoral also offer guided tours, treasure hunts to be carried out independently and a wide variety of activities on nature and heritage. It is thanks to the Conservatoire that the moors of Ploumanac'h, trampled on for decades by hundreds of thousands of visitors, have been able to reclaim the place. A little further, nestled in the hollow of the chaos, the Saint-Guirec beach looks like a paradise. Standing on a rock in the middle of transparent waters, an 11th century oratory, dedicated to the monk Guirec who came to evangelize the area four centuries earlier, watches over the place.
