ABBAYE NOTRE-DAME-DE-QUINCY
A remarkable Cistercian abbey, founded in 1133, with a superb park in Tanlay.
This Cistercian abbey, founded in 1133, was used as a stone quarry during the Revolution, and was then partly destroyed. However, buildings from the 12th and 13th centuries can still be admired, as well as a tower from the 15th century. At its peak, in the 13th century, the abbey had 150 monks, 14 barns, cellars, and six to seven mills. Three are still visible, but cannot be visited. As for the pretty park, it offers a labyrinth of yew trees.
