Family estate of 62 hectares managed in AB with an ecocert certification. Visits, tastings and a gîte with garden.

The Fernand Engel estate covers 62 hectares, including the terroirs of the Grands Crus Altenberg, Praelatenberg, Gloeckelberg and Mandelberg, as well as the vineyards of Château de Meyerhof in Rorschwihr. Organically farmed, it was awarded the Ecocert label in 2012. Wide range from crémant to pinot noir, including Alsace whites. Taste the suave Riesling Kugelberg 2019 with notes of buttered pineapple and the interesting Pinot Noir Héritage 2022: prune, elderberry, morello cherry and chocolate. Vacation accommodation with private garden.

J'ai fait connaissance avec la Maison Engel en 1976, et j'avais loin d'avoir la majorité pour boire beaucoup. C'est le hasard qui nous avait conduit un jour d'aout dans l'ancien caveau, les filles de la maison vendant du raisin au bord de la route. Et c'est le papa, Fernand, qui nous avait reçu. Quelques gouttes pour former mon palais de 13 ans et en paraphrasant notre écrivain marseillais, Marcel Pagnol, pour ses chères collines "... je sentis naître un amour qui allait durer toute ma vie..." non seulement pour le breuvage mais aussi pour cette belle région. La Maison Engel a su s'adapter au bio et j'en suis ravie. Donc un grand merci aux générations qui depuis ont fait grandir l'exlpoitation. Ghyslaine
