Just outside Auxerre, the Gallo-Roman site of Escolives is an archaeological nugget in the heart of the vineyards. Situated on the ancient Roman road of Agrippa, its origins lie near the Creusot spring, which has attracted mankind since Neolithic times. Period after period has followed, as evidenced by the ruins of a Gallo-Roman villa and thermal baths, and a Merovingian cemetery. A fascinating visit for the whole family, in an absolutely magnificent setting.

Een archeologische site waar men per toeval de resten van een Romeinse villa heeft ontdekt. De bewoners behoorden tot de rijke garde aangezien het huis beschikte over uitgebreide thermen en er tevens een boerderij aanwezig was.
