This castle is located in the heart of the Morvan, on a rocky peak overlooking the Cure.
Located in the heart of the Morvan, on a rocky peak overlooking the Cure river, it was in the 11th century that the castle of Chastellux began to emerge from the ground (the Saint-Jean tower was built in 1080). Over the centuries, this fortress has been constantly enlarged and restored, but it is the same family that has been in charge of this sumptuous castle since its origins. The Count of Chastellux, who shows his residence with passion, knows the place by heart. The park, designed by Le Nôtre, is also worth a visit. And the village too.

Nous avons découvert ce château sur you tube "so châteaux " ( gratuit et en libre accès) et nous avons adoré le commentaire/ promenade fait par le propriétaire de ce château, M.le Comte. Quelle chance nous avons, nous les Français, d'avoir un tel patrimoine et de telles familles qui ont façonné la France d'aujourd'hui. On sent la ferveur et l'engagement du propriétaire pour son château. Grande hâte, cet été, de venir le découvrir in situ.

Alles geschlossen, sogar die Kirche, schön von weitem.

Oud kasteel met enorme financiële uitdagingen. De rondleiding is in groep. Onze onder leiding van de comte die een enorm lange zeer geïnspireerde en bij wijlen homoristische monoloog de geschiedenis van het kasteel en zijn familie afstak. Dit alles in een enorm vlug tempo waardoor de kwinkslagen voor ons buitenlanders, nochtans met een goede kennis van het Frans en de Franse geschiedenis veelal onverstaanbaar waren. De rondleidingen zijn voor Fransen bedoeld en alleen voor Fransen. Laat dat duidelijk zijn. Nochtans hoopte hij op veel Amerikaanse dollars om zijn kasteel te redden. Daarvoor zal zijn Engels er echter met reuzenstappen op vooruit moeten gaan.
