CITY OF CLIMATES AND WINES OF BURGUNDY
Inaugurated in 2023, this major city is spread over 3 emblematic Burgundy sites: Beaune, Mâcon and Chablis.
Have you come to the Yonne to discover its famous wines, their history and the great traditions of winegrowing? Then don't hesitate to stop off at the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne. This network of three wine tourism sites, located in three towns that are emblematic of the region's wines (Chablis, Beaune in Côte d'or, and Mâcon in Saône-et-Loire), offers three different but highly complementary visitor itineraries that highlight the specific winegrowing characteristics of each of these areas. Not far from the town center, the Chablis site is housed in the 12th-century Petit Pontigny cellar, now dedicated to promoting the vineyards and wines of the Chablis, Châtillonnais and Auxerrois regions. This magnificent site now boasts terraces and a contemporary extension harmoniously integrated into the meditative atmosphere of the gardens. Over 300m2, the scenography of the tour allows you to build your own wine experience through an astonishing multi-sensory immersion. As proof, not only will your entrance ticket include a wine tasting, but a connected bracelet will analyze your interactions and movements throughout your visit to draw up your Burgundy wine-lover profile at the end of the tour.
Thanks to visual, tactile, olfactory and acoustic installations, you'll explore the world of Burgundy wines, landscapes, archaeology, terroir, vines and climates in a particularly entertaining way. Not forgetting, of course, the passion of the men and women who work the vines and make the wines with the patience and passion we all know. It's an experience to be enjoyed alone, in pairs, with friends or even with the whole family, as a special tour has been designed for children. Organized into four "Caves aux secrets" islands, it comes complete with a games booklet (please remember to reserve it online before you come).
Last but not least, wine discovery workshops, tasting initiations and tailor-made training courses are available for those with a passion for wine. And you can even learn more about wine-tasting techniques at the École des Vins de Bourgogne. A true benchmark in the field! If you wish, to prolong the pleasure, you can also dine on site at the Ponti'Bar, where afterworks and themed lunches are regularly organized. This is an address not to be missed in the Chablis area.
