TOUR DE L’HORLOGE
A 49-meter-high tower dominating the old town center, once home to Avallonnais' precious clocks.
Overlooked by a 15th-century tower, 49 m high and topped by a slate campanile, this majestic gateway dominates the old town center. It marks the entrance to the ancient Roman castrum, the remains of which can be seen in the Musée de l'Avallonnais. To get to the Saint-Lazare collegiate church, you'll have to pass under the monument, coming from the shopping street, which is dominated and closed by the Horloge tower. A symbol of Avallon, this historic monument dates back to 1455. A fine testimony to Avallon's history.
