This museum is the legacy of Pierre-François Guillon, journeymen carpenter and founder of the École de trait. Here you can discover a Unesco-listed intangible heritage (carpentry drafting and companionship), with masterpieces, sketches and models, as well as documents on the life of a companion. This summer's temporary exhibition pays tribute to sculptor Thierry Coraichon. Children's tours and workshops for all organized during the school vacations.

Closed from December 15th to January 1st. Closed May 1. Low season: open daily from 2pm to 6pm. High season: daily from 10am to 6pm. High season from May to end September. Low season for groups, mornings by appointment. Free admission for children under 18 (1st Sunday of the month). Adults: €4. Groups (10 people): €3. Free for students. Owner's Message
Founded in 1871, the Romanèche-Thorins carpentry school enjoyed a strong reputation in France. Its founder, Pierre-François Guillon, a journeyman carpenter, taught his students drawing, material cutting and woodworking techniques. At the museum, you can discover the history of the school and companionship, as well as the many masterpieces created by journeymen carpenters.
Carpentry and companionship are listed by UNESCO as part of humanity's intangible cultural heritage.

Temporary exhibition: The construction site of a comic strip.

This year, the museum has invited the cartoonist and author Jérôme Jouvray to create an original tour that explores the backstage of the creation of a comic strip: from the birth of an idea to the composition of the characters and the story to the drawing and coloring. Conceived as a comic strip that unfolds on the walls of the museum's exhibition rooms, the visitor is accompanied throughout the tour by 4 characters who interact. Sketched with humor, these heroes reveal their work and the world of their profession. Original plates, sketchbooks and ideas, tools ... are also presented. A bookshop and a reading corner complete the exhibition.
