The village of Olderdalen isn't particularly interesting, except that it's on the E6 and offers a direct ferry link to Lyngseidet, on the other side of the fjord. In this small village, you'll find plenty of places to stop and hike, along steep paths that lead up to the surrounding peaks to admire the Lyngen Alps and the Finnmark plateau. From the village, you can hike to the two peaks overlooking the valley (Nordmannviktinden and Gavtavárri). Beware, though, of the steep gradient. It's also possible to go deeper into the valley, along the river, to the Olderdalen hut, which is open to all.
