SOURCE DU FONTOU

Since 2018, the Fontou spring and the 3.5 hectares that the river flows through are a sensitive natural area (ENS) managed by the Vienne department. Close to the Payré islands, this site is home to a fauna and flora that should be protected, such as the marsh fern, an endangered species. Interpretation panels have been installed to raise awareness among walkers and allow them to learn more about the nature that surrounds them. Associations such as Vienne Nature or the LPO regularly organize outings to the Fontou spring.
