"Of all the diamonds in the Crown of France, the most beautiful is the Rhine Fortress". So spoke Louis XIV of the Place Forte de Neuf-Brisach, a masterpiece of military architecture listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. In the 18thcentury , Vauban set out to protect the Rhine crossing, creating a perfect octagon with eight bastions, inside which the streets intersect at right angles and are laid out in a checkerboard pattern. Visite guidée de presque 2 h avec une guide très agréable, âgée de 384 ans environ (car femme de Vauban :-)).
Très belle découverte de la ville et de l architecture Vauban.

Village-forteresse construit par célèbre Vauban fait partie d UNESCO. Cette année il y a une exposition tout autour de fortification. Belle découverte !
