Vauban's last fortified work, the city of Neuf-Brisach was built in 1699 by order of Louis XIV to secure Alsace. This stronghold, listed as a World Heritage Site since 2008, is remarkable for its star-shaped design. Opting for a guided tour is the assurance of discovering the secrets of this ingenious defence system, accompanied by instructive anecdotes. The discovery concludes with a visit to the Vauban Museum and the Royal Church of Saint-Louis.

Disappointed by the guided tour, the fortifications are interesting but visiting in a horse-drawn carriage is BOF, few flowers city (even in summer), too mineral, few efforts are you would say...
the city is not development and the ramparts which are magnificent even less. you get the feeling that all is the abandonment and that time stopped here...
