Kong is a small town that counts in the history of Côte d'Ivoire, for its Islamic religious and commercial influence in the Middle Ages. It is located at the entrance of the Comoé National Park. It is especially known for its traditional mosque of neo-Sudanese style built at the beginning of the 20th century, classified as a historical monument, all in mud bricks with wooden beams (strands) and its two pointed towers. It has a proper hotel. Nevertheless, the current security conditions are not adequate, the area is classified red by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and therefore formally inadvisable
