Ferkessédougou or rather "Ferké" is the largest northern city of the country, 650 km from Abidjan, the capital of the Tchologo region, with a population of about 120,000. It is the last stop before the border with Mali and Burkina Faso. Drained in a Sahelian savannah, the powerful wind of the Sahara, the Harmattan, blows there strongly. The railroad that connects Abidjan to Ougadougou passes through Bouaké and Ferké. It is therefore possible to get there by train. Ask about the security situation, but for the moment the city is not in an orange or red zone, even though it is close to the pocket of jihadists hiding in the Comoé and towards Kafolo.
