To venture into Comoé Léraba is to ensure that you live an authentic experience that combines nature, culture and meeting people. It is now possible to visit two natural areas not far from Banfora. 50 and 90 kilometres south of Banfora respectively are two classified forests: the Niangoloko forest, small and easily accessible, with an area of 6,654 hectares, and the Comoé Léraba classified forest, much larger but also "richer", bordered by the Comoé river and crossed by the Léraba river, with a total area of 125,000 hectares. The management and enhancement of these natural areas has been entrusted to a village association, AGEREF C/L, which organizes excursions and stays to discover the richness of this region. On the programme: an immersion in the wild character of these forests, observing their great richness and all their biodiversity, and inviting yourself into the particular authenticity of the villages and their inhabitants. On the nature side, 4x4 outings, hiking, leisure and naturalistic activities, accompanied by eco-guides, children from these villages, proud to explain to travellers how their reserves work and the impact on the life of the villages concerned. Culture, presentation of everyday activities: beekeeping, making soumbala, shea butter soap, pottery, basketry, blacksmith's shop, traditional dance and music shows. Several excursions and tours have been designed, from one day to several days, but the association remains flexible and can be adapted to your desires. These two forests also have a beautiful population of wildlife, so you will have the chance to observe: elephants, various antelopes (bubbales, Défassa cobes, Buffon cobes...), buffaloes, baboons, patas monkeys, green monkeys, warthogs, and a multitude of birds. For these excursions: the track is bad, almost impassable in the rainy season, 4x4 vehicle mandatory! It is essential to book and organize your stay from Banfora, at the offices of the village association. All logistics are handled by AGEREF C/L. A 6-bedroom camp has been built in the village of Folonzo. A fine example of sustainable and solidarity-based tourism that works to preserve the environment while respecting the socio-cultural authenticity of local populations and ensuring a viable economic activity for them. A highly recommended discovery.Contact: AGEREF Comoé/Léraba: +226 70 26 06 94 / +226 20 91 05 82, mail: [email protected].
