This castle located on the southern slope of the Serra d'Ossa is one of the buildings remodeled during the reign of Denis I of Portugal.

Located on the southern slopes of the Serra d'Ossa, this castle is one of the buildings remodeled during the reign of Denis I of Portugal in the 14th century. Its ramparts and keep have been listed as a National Monument since 1946. Since the 1990s, its east-side entrance has featured on the labels of some Porta da Ravessa wine bottles. After passing through the main gate, walk along Rua do Castelo (Castle Street), home to several Gothic portals and the enoteca, an establishment dedicated to promoting the region's wines.
