Things to see and do Punalur

Forests always green, a gift from nature. Possibility of camping, trekking and canoeing.

The Punalur suspension bridge, built in 1877 by the British, is located on the Kallada River. Built to connect the population to dense forests across the shore, its interest is now purely historical.

In this forest, we are directly in contact with nature. It houses several species of rare birds, orchids and many other flowers. Trekking is possible.

Achenkovil is a river along which many temples are found. It is also the name of the forest surrounding the banks of the river. A major Hindu pilgrimage center, the Achenkovil Sastha Temple is one of the five Sastha temples of Kerala, presided over by Lord Ayyappa. This god of growth is Shiva and Mohini's son, a female avatar of Vishnou. The waterfalls of Kumbhavurutty (in Aravappulam near NH 208) are a popular attraction in the region. Trek possibilities in the vicinity.

This Hindu temple is one of the 108 sastha temples of Kerala. 

The farm covers more than 140 hectares. There are coconut plantations, gardens and livestock plantations. The medical garden includes very rare medicinal plants.

There is a temple dedicated to Sastha. The site, surrounded by hills on the three sides, is known for freshwater lake Sasthamkotta.
