Home where John Hancock, who played a key role in the American rebellion against the British, spent part of his childhood.
The illustrious John Hancock, who played a key role in the American rebellion against the British, spent part of his childhood in this house, acquired by his grandfather in 1699. Years later, on April 19, 1775, it was within these walls that Paul Revere, after observing the arrival of English soldiers in Boston, alerted John Hancock and Samuel Adams of their advance towards Lexington and Concord. The leaders of the revolution then fled, escaping from the British, and the battle of Lexington took place a few hours later.
