On the eastern shore of the Tachibana Peninsula and southwest of Mount Unzen is Obama, a popular Japanese spa resort. It is the entry point to the volcano chain. Known for its beaches and warm waters, it has the longest foot spa in the country (105 meters). Its homograph with the former American president has served to its popularity, it plays with much pride. Founded in 713, Obama Onsen is famous for its hot springs which are among the hottest and most active in Japan, reaching a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius.... no less!
